Heckin’ Dethly from Lavery brewing. Four-pack of 16 fl oz cans picked up at Peach Street Beer 4 Less, Erie, PA, 16/09/25 - $ 11.12 (including tax)/$ 0.173/fl oz. Reviewed 08/10/25, review 3606. Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Undated can. On room temperature shelf at store, stored at home at 40 degrees F. Served at 48.0 degrees F in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. The final temperature is 57.5 degrees F.
Appearance – 4
First pour – Deep Amber (SRM 15), hazy (chill).
Body – Amber Brown (SRM 18), opaque. Under direct light, same. When rear-lite, glows ruby.
Head – Huge (Maximum nine cm, aggressive center pour). Wheat, high density, good retention, leaving a 0.5 – 1.5 cm jagged, rocky crown and cap.
Lacing – Fair.
Aroma – 4 – Mildly malty and nutty, no hops, no alcohol.
Flavor – 3.5 – Starts with mildly bitter malt, no hop flavor, no alcohol (5.5 % ABV, according to the label). No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl. No gastric warming. Ends with hints of chocolate.
Palate – 3.5 – Medium: Watery: Lively carbonation.
Style: Basically, follows the style guidelines as condensed by BA.
Final impression and summation: 3.5 (After deducting 0.25 point for an undated can) Uncredited art work. While it does resemble a Franconian Landbier, it seems over carbonated and a bit bitter for the “style”. Still, by the last quarter of the can, I was quite enjoying it.
