10 oz. on tap at the brewery.
Appearance: Pours a clear gold/yellow with a short crown of white head. Spotty lacing.
Aroma: Earth, lemon, hops.
Taste: That earthy taste is there, along with the lemony hops and some mild grapefruit. Also a slightly malty note.
Mouthfeel: Sturdy for a "light-looking" IPA. Easy drinking for 6+ ABV.
Overall: Rising Tide bills this as an "all local" IPA with some Maine potatoes thrown in the mix. It's really good, knocking on the door of great. I hope they bottle this in the spring as it would make a great spring seasonal. The potatoes are noticeable if you know they're there, but it's definitely not overwhelming - just adds that nice "earthy" quality. Haven't seen potatoes in an IPA before; sometimes it's in stouts. Get this while you're able!
