I like most of Rising Tide’s beers, but this one is overly malty, definitely West Coast IPA style not a NEIPA, for sure! Also, surprisingly strong alcohol taste for a 6.5% beer. Overly pronounced malt and hefty tasting.

A: Pours a golden yellow color with 2 fingers of head that fades down to a nice cap that leaves good lacing

S: Grassy and floral up front with a touch of malt. Definitely on the earthy side

T: Follows the nose. Starts off with grass, pine, and floral hop notes and then picks up a light maltiness. On the bitter side. Finishes with lingering grassy notes

M: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. On the dry side

O: A solid IPA that is definitely on the west-coast style side. Easy to drink. A nice part of the island IPA series

Poured into a 13 oz Funk Teku glass canned on 9/28/18. Pours a clear orange, with a 2 plus finger head that leaves a wall of webby lace behind as it slowly settles. 4.25

Smell is mellon, apricot, mango, pine resin, and grapefruit rind. 3.75

Taste follows but bigger and more pronounced mellon and apricot hit first, followed by some pine and grapefruit that hangs on for awhile after each sip. 4

Mouthfeel is a solid medium, plenty of life, a tad dry as we all once enjoyed, and at 6.5% a ton of flavor and goes down pretty darn easy. 4.25

Overall this is a very nice beer and like I said the last one is apples and oranges compared, but I think this is a very nice IPA. 4
