Canned 10/9/20
Now this is something I’ve never heard of. I absolutely love maple beers, but using it in s blonde ale base? This one is sure to be weird. I have a bad feeling this will be out of balance, but I hope I’m wrong about that. Let’s dive right into it and see what’s up
Pours a cloudy orange gold with a finger of white head that fades to a thin cap and leaves minimal lacing
Well, the balance in the nose is certainly better than I expected. The maple is authentic, but it smells very grain heavy. I’m picking up on aromas of toasted grain, sugary maple, floral hops, honey, doughy malt, and a touch of general citrus
Oh yeah, just as expected this is quite sweet in the mouth, all sources of sweetness coming together as one. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting sweet grain, bready malt, light peppery hops, maple, and light caramel. The swallow brings notes of toasted grain, sticky maple, sweet white wine, and honey
A medium body pairs with gentle carbonation, resulting in a decently crisp beer. Finishes neutral and too sweet
This was unique for sure, but it just doesn’t do it for me personally. Still, not bad and worth a shot

Maple golden ale, tastes and smells more like maple wine than beer, but delicious. Not candy-sweet but not dry either, an extremely full and authentic maple syrup flavor and aroma throughout, malts blending with the maple to become indiscernible. The color is gorgeous, absolute liquid gold. Thick and viscous appearance and mouthfeel, this definitely has a lot of maple syrup in it. But the end result is phenomenally balanced and drinkable like a fine dessert wine, it stays sweet but never cloying. You could drink this with pancakes.
