Can at the brewery
Light fizzy head low retention, no lacing, clear darker auburn ice tea color
Nose big Chai spice, sweet brown malts, little biscuit toasty, earthy soil like, honey biscuits
Taste sweet biscuity brown malts, toffee, brown sugar molasses, honey biscuits and honey malt, big Chai spice again, bitter earthy hop
Mouth is med bod, med fizzy carb, touch of alcohol

A ‘honey chai strong ale’. Described as “A strong ale with notes of chai spice, honey, and vanilla”. The description is completely accurate.
It looks like a Belgian strong dark, but the smell conveys chai spice and a promise of something different. The taste is exactly what the name implies: a cross between a Belgian strong dark and chai tea. And it works.
The chai spiciness is just right. Any more would be overpowering. It also masks the alcohol content - this drinks like something much less than 8.5%. It just works. If you like both Belgian strong dark ales and chai tea, you will probably love this beer.
Some beers, in an effort to be different, go too far, like some ‘pastry’ stouts that taste like a Twinkie soaked in ethanol. This one strikes the right balance. It’s worth having.
