Canned 2022/01/05
Pours a fizzy foamy 1 finger head with lower retention, no lacing, crystal clear light pale color
Nose sweet malt, straw and bread dough leading to a little cake batter, grainy pilsner malt, hint if corn, fair floral hop
Taste brings more pilsner malt, grainy sweet, cereal, bread dough, med sweet than the nose perceived, straw, soft lager, med to higher hop presence, very herbal and a bit floral, turning very spicy late on the dry finish, med bitterness turning to high spicy bitterness
Mouth is med bod, soft lager, med higher frothy carb
Overall pretty good pilsner, maybe a bit hoppy for Italian style but malt seemed there, and well lagered

Picked up a 4-pack of Verona from Colonial Spirits in Acton, MA (am on an Italian Pilsner kick atm) and this is a good find... I've had others of this style (Pivo/Firestone, Luppolo/Oxbow) and the subtle extra hoppyness works for me.... Reading about this style and apparently, dry-hopping with some European hops makes this an Italian-styled pils... just yummy!
