Collaboration with Wicked Whoopies whoopie pie company in Gardiner, ME.
This full-bodied pastry stout is lip-licking good. It is sure to hit the spot with its big chocolate character up front that smooths out into dark chocolate, vanilla, marshmallow, toasted marshmallow, and caramel. Perfectly sweet and reminiscent of Maine’s favorite dessert.

Pours deep cola color, very respectable tan head, lingers a bit, crashes to a thin layer, decent cling.
The smell is mostly of the base stout and caramel sweetness. Even well-warmed it stays that way. I don't find any chocolate or vanilla/marshmallow to speak of.
Taste follows - it tastes more like a stout with caramel syrup than anything else. The stout flavor is ok, with a good roast flavor and just a little acrid char. Then caramel pretty much takes over. Maybe the very mildest hint of vanilla at the end. But it's not hitting the mark implied by namesake. Fairly sweet. It's kind of rough around the edges and what flavor there is seems a bit jagged.
The mouthfeel is on the thick side, and it's a tad bit cloying, sticky sweetness. Borderline on the char and bitterness.
This one just doesn't come together and it certainly fails to deliver on the iconic Maine pastry treat.
