16oz can purchased from the fridge as a single for $3.99. Canned on 05.09.25, so this one is just shy of being six months old.

Look: Beautiful light to medium gold color, excellent clarity. Very white, fluffy, pillow-top head with great retention. The bubbles are very fine and effortlessly and vigorously rising up the glass in multiple lines. Reminds you a bit of a fine glass of champagne. Very subtle haziness after pouring the bottom of the can. Excellent lacing also.

Smell: Lovely lemony citrus aroma - it's bright. I also get a nice malty biscuit note. Smells a bit toasty, grainy, and crisp overall. Slightly peppery finish. Floral notes are present also. It really smells delightful. After getting into it, I'm getting those lovely lemon iced tea vibes on the nose. I'm also getting Nilla wafers on the nose from the empty can. Pretty cool!

Taste: Super crushable. This is delicious. Up front, it has that great lemony citrus note along with a very light maltiness that has a touch of sweetness and an even lighter creamy vanilla flavor. The beer is super crisp, so it moves to a significant bitterness and dryness on the finish with notes of tannic lemon iced tea, pepper, and lemon pith. For a 4.5% ABV beer, it has tons of flavor. Very enjoyable and refreshing.

Feel: Very crisp and clean. Dry finish. The beer is light to medium bodied. For a 4.5% Kolsch, it has a pretty nice mouthfeel that doesn't feel like it's too thin or too heavy. Just right. Oh, and the carbonation on this beer is perfect.

Overall: This is an interesting beer because it's easily overlookable and forgettable. Yet, it's not trying to stand out or make waves (no pun intended). It's just trying to be crisp, clean, refreshing, a Summer chugger if you will. And it totally accomplishes that. Also, if you were to compare other light beers of a similar ABV to this one, you would usually not get the brightness of hops or complexity of malt that is presented here. This beer is wonderfully balanced and really is good. Good beers do not have to blow you away - they just have to be good. When I bought this, I thought that it was going to be an American Pale Ale. And it basically is - a Kolsch is basically a lager brewed with an ale yeast, the label advertises this beer as an ale that is balanced and crushable (doesn't say what kind of ale). I'm a big fan of a well-made Kolsch, and super pleased with this one. This is probably the best Kolsch that I have had so far. Cheers!
