Dark pale ale (what?) with gobs of head. Smells abrasive, fortunately taste much, much better than it smells. Mouthfeel is awesome.

This tastes (and look) like someone mixed a Belgian pale ale, and a Belgian dark ale. Fortunately I like both, so this was a good beer for me, but if you really like those BPAs, this may throw you off.

Bottle: Poured a hazy orange color ale with a rather large foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma of heavy residual sugars with some Belgian malt notes and some honey and pear notes also noticeable. Taste is also dominated by heavy Belgian malt with quite a bit of residual sugars with some pears and honey notes. Body is full with limited filtration and no apparent alcohol. Enjoyable but like most beer from this brewery I think it could do with more attenuation.

Chill hazed burnt orange colored beer with a good sized white head. Far darker than usual for the style.

Smell is sweet and fruity with a soapy herbal scent. Coriander and ginger for spice scents.

Starts out sweet and spicy with a taste that is better than the smell. Alcohol is completely hidden despite there being a lot of it. Coriander and mild ginger with a sweet malt flavor. Mild sensation of salt. Grassy after taste and that is about it for hop taste. Only real off thing about this beer is the unusual amount of sweetness.

Mouthfeel is good.

Overall this is good, but this is on the extremes of sweetness for the style. Still this isn't a drain pour and in fact I will buy again.

Pours amber, dull and cloudy with a one finger net of head. Below average retention and the lacing just vanishes into nothing, look like juice after a good amount of time.

Candy sugar, sweetness with notable yeast esters that come off as white grape juice, banana and plums. Intermingling belgian spices, and alcohol on the finish.

Fruity esters, caramel and sponge cake, white grape juice, lemon zest and dark fruit. More sweet than bright. Finishes boozy and a touch chalky. Easier to drink as the beer warms, malt begins to thin out and gets more balanced.

Slick and adequately carbonated, booze is harsh and a touch astringent.

I was expecting more of a Belgian pale with this beer, dark, malts with plenty of residual sugars pair with sweet fruity esters, pleasant tasting but the rest of this beer shows some tattered edges with it's finish and alcohol. Tiresome brew near the end.

pours a touch darker than medium amber while yielding a frothy 1" head; modest retention and lacing. nose is primarily fruity/malty with a few muted notes of floral hops in the background. decent aroma.

flavor follows with some fruitiness (notably banana), some light spice and some candi sugar. some booziness to the finish. medium bodied mouthfeel with average carbonation.

overall, a solid if unspectacular offering. for me it falls into that "wouldn't turn it down / wouldn't seek it out" realm.
