Bottle: Poured a hazy orange color ale with a rather large foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma of heavy residual sugars with some Belgian malt notes and some honey and pear notes also noticeable. Taste is also dominated by heavy Belgian malt with quite a bit of residual sugars with some pears and honey notes. Body is full with limited filtration and no apparent alcohol. Enjoyable but like most beer from this brewery I think it could do with more attenuation.

Appearance: Very foamy pour with that settles into a beautiful hazy sunset orange with a head that lingers.

Smell: The first thing to jump out at me was the coriander & apple notes. A floral like surrounding. Very much appreciated.

Taste: Its a definite replica of the aromas but hints of banana come out. Citrus flavors blend amazing. Belgian style indeed, but its only particular style that I consider top notch!

Mouthfeel: It felt medium body and the carbonation seemed midlevel.

Overall: Allow me to raise my glass in the air for what I consider one of my new Favorite beers. This takes on its own world. Im putting it out there: Iron Fist is a brewery to be taken serious. This sits as my personal choice but I shall review all there beers which I also greatly enjoyed.

Chill hazed burnt orange colored beer with a good sized white head. Far darker than usual for the style.

Smell is sweet and fruity with a soapy herbal scent. Coriander and ginger for spice scents.

Starts out sweet and spicy with a taste that is better than the smell. Alcohol is completely hidden despite there being a lot of it. Coriander and mild ginger with a sweet malt flavor. Mild sensation of salt. Grassy after taste and that is about it for hop taste. Only real off thing about this beer is the unusual amount of sweetness.

Mouthfeel is good.

Overall this is good, but this is on the extremes of sweetness for the style. Still this isn't a drain pour and in fact I will buy again.

pours a touch darker than medium amber while yielding a frothy 1" head; modest retention and lacing. nose is primarily fruity/malty with a few muted notes of floral hops in the background. decent aroma.

flavor follows with some fruitiness (notably banana), some light spice and some candi sugar. some booziness to the finish. medium bodied mouthfeel with average carbonation.

overall, a solid if unspectacular offering. for me it falls into that "wouldn't turn it down / wouldn't seek it out" realm.

Dark pale ale (what?) with gobs of head. Smells abrasive, fortunately taste much, much better than it smells. Mouthfeel is awesome.

This tastes (and look) like someone mixed a Belgian pale ale, and a Belgian dark ale. Fortunately I like both, so this was a good beer for me, but if you really like those BPAs, this may throw you off.

On-tap at Iron Fist

A: The pour is a cloudy dark orange color with a big white head.

S: The nose is surprisingly subtle. Definitely some spice notes to this one; I pick up some cinnamon and nutmeg. There is a bit of bread along with a more subdued note of candi sugar.

T: A very warming character, in part due to the fairly high ABV. The spice notes are almost identical to the nose, and are indeed pleasing if not a bit heavy.

M: The body was medium and due to rather high carbonation directly from the tap, this was "decanted" into a pitcher and then poured into a glass, resulting in a lower level of carbonation when drinking.

D: Probably my least favorite of their beers. It was just sort of one note and muddled spice flavors/aromas. Not really all the interesting.

Strong and sharp golden ale.

Big foam but produces a long-lasting head with a pleasant carbonation in the mouth. Nice floral scent with a touch of hops and bread baking. Lots of Belgian character-- yeast, the odd hard candy taste, a little dark funk in the back of the mouth. More tart than sweet, and the hoppiness gives it a good balance, in my opinion. Lots of fruitiness, like (power of suggestion maybe) golden raisins.

This is just a little coarser in the execution than the best in this style, but better than some of the authentic Belgians. Quite sippable and a good aperitif.

On tap at Iron Fist.

A: Hazy dark orange with a light beige head.

S: Coriander, cloves, light banana notes. Orange. Alcohol.

T: Interesting flavor. Banana and grape notes in a Belgian Strong Pale are certainly out of place, but it tastes pretty good. Malt is moderately sweet and alcohol is warming and noticeable in the flavor. Lightly spicy with light clove and a moderate bitterness.

M: Medium bodied with high carbonation and an

Overall: Just an ok beer with a strange combination of flavors.

On Tap at Tapestry.

Golden Age has a very hazy appearance for the style. Hazy burnt orange with some gold spots with a small but firm off white splotch of foam that leaves tiny lace. Good retention. This one smells different. Not clean like normal BSPA's and without the spicy hop character as Belgians. A nice Belgian yeast strain with some apple and a grassy hop scent coming out strong and floral like. This is going in a different direction than most and I give it credit there. Grassy hops mixed in with apple, some hint of grape, and a hit of alcohol in the end. A departure. Feel is very lively, active carbonation with a medium body. A different beer here that I may visit again in the future. This sparked my interest.

On tap at Iron Fist Brewing Company in Vista, CA.

Pours a murky dark honey orange with a tan head that settles to a small cap. Thick chunks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is malty and fruity with some banana and yeast aromas. Taste is the same with a nice spice finish. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer with a very nice smell and the taste is quite good too.

On tap at the source

Poured a slightly hazy golden orange in color with pale yellow highlights that had a half finger of head and left some good lacing sticking to the glass. Very noticeable banana character in the aroma along side some spice, various grains, coriander, and mild citrus notes. The taste was also quite big on the banana flavor with coriander citrusy accents but had varoius grain notes and a touch of spice as well. The brew was medium in body with a moderate amount of carbonation. Which had a fruity, grainy, spice, and prickly finish.

Had a sampler of this on tap at the brewery a few weeks ago, but waited until I got a much larger pour, this time from a bottle to review it.

A: Poured from a 750 ml bottle into a Bruery tulip glass, split with two others. The beer pours a cloudy orange amber, with a good Inch of tan head colored head, slowly settled leaving some lacing.

S: I get notes of light candy sugar, mild banana, sweet spices, and a touch of caramel.

T: Mirrors the nose for the most. Caramel, Belgian yeast, mild banana, light candy sugar, and some nutmeg or light cinnamon. The alcohol is there, but hidden ok from the sweetness.

M: Medium to high carbonation, a little sticky.

O: Good, though not mind blowing for me personally. I think Iron Fist, as I have now had nearly all of their beers are taking a conservative approach out of the gate, making solid to style beers. I Already have another bottle of this to take to Las Vegas for this memorial weekend, as I found it pretty refreshing on a hot day though, and it was my wife's favorite.

on tap at tapestry in philly

Pours a slightly hazed golden yellow color with some orange hues. Thinner crop of white head dissolves, leaving some spotty lacing on the glass.

Floral hops in the nose with some fruity tones. Touches of bready malt with clove and spice, a few dashes of black pepper. Soft alcohol warmth.

Floral and lightly hoppy up front with some dashes of clove. Somewhat spicy with a decent amount of fruit sweetness driven by banana and lighter hints of apple. Nice malty backbone with sweetness from honey, caramel and bread. Finishes warm and slightly floral.

Medium body, decent carbonation, sticky and slick on the tongue. I thought this was pretty drinkable despite the higher ABV, although I've yet to be wowed by anything from Iron Fist yet.

750ml bottle.

pours a hazy medium-dark amber tone while yielding a solid finger and a half of beige head. decent retention and lacing.

interesting nose, not quite what i was expecting. there are the usual suspects in a belgian strong pale - fruit and spice characters, some candied sugar - but more of a malt presence than i have come to expect.

flavor follows the aroma, offering banana, clove, coriander, some other fruity elements i can't quite place. again, relatively big malty sweetness. medium bodied mouthfeel with average carbonation.

overall a decent enough beer, just didn't quite bowl me over.

Pours amber, dull and cloudy with a one finger net of head. Below average retention and the lacing just vanishes into nothing, look like juice after a good amount of time.

Candy sugar, sweetness with notable yeast esters that come off as white grape juice, banana and plums. Intermingling belgian spices, and alcohol on the finish.

Fruity esters, caramel and sponge cake, white grape juice, lemon zest and dark fruit. More sweet than bright. Finishes boozy and a touch chalky. Easier to drink as the beer warms, malt begins to thin out and gets more balanced.

Slick and adequately carbonated, booze is harsh and a touch astringent.

I was expecting more of a Belgian pale with this beer, dark, malts with plenty of residual sugars pair with sweet fruity esters, pleasant tasting but the rest of this beer shows some tattered edges with it's finish and alcohol. Tiresome brew near the end.
