A beer that tastes like pine? Surely a favorite around here.

A: Dark gold touching on mild red with foamy head and good lacing.
N: Hops, malt, and minor citrus.
T: Follows the nose, malty beer with solid hops and some bite. A little citrus on the back end.
M: Medium
O: A very nice APA, solid flavors and easy to consume.

Dark amber color, spotty lacing. Smells like caramel malt, and tastes like caramel malt and oak chips. One dimensional, sticky and medium bodied.
Very pedestrian, nothing about this stands out.

Scored this at that place in the strip mall around Pheonix. Can't remember name, well known. Anyways, this came in a can and poured a light amber kind of srm color, standard 1/2" white head. Aroma was pretty much a feint scent of old school non proprietary bittering hops in the C world.

Taste has a substantial amount of caramel like malt impact. More Chinook hops it seems along with Cascade doing the bulk of the work. Another reviewer said it, but it seems spot on, this was an SNPA attempted clone kind of thing. This one leans more grapefruit than the label would make you think, there isn't a bunch of pine to it, its more lemon and grapefruit bitterness. The malt has more in common with the pine aspect than the hops, the woody caramel notes are all throughout the mouth feel to the bitter end here. Its decent, but with SNPA so ubiquitous and superior, I don't know where this beer finds its niche.

Beautiful clear coppery gold color with solid white cap and lasting lacing.

Aroma of caramel malt dusted with piney, floral, citrusy hops.

Taste on entry is more hop forward, specifically citrus hops such as grapefruit, then floral with a definite piney undertone. Flavors are distinct and running parallel which is to say they never meld nor do they interfere with each other. The tracks end at a clean, refreshing finish with a slightly firmer hop presence in the aftertaste.

My first thought on opening the can was Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. I don't know if that's the target the brewers at LumberYard had in mind, the brews are different, this one is more citrusy and less malty than SN, yet that's the comparison that sprang to mind when I wasn't actually thinking of comparing it to anything. Anyway, thumbs up.

Appearance: pours an amber color with a 1/2" head.

Smell: citrus and a hint of pine is picked up by the nose.

Taste: caramel, grapefruit, lemon zest, and some pine are the main flavors.

Mouthfeel: medium bodied beer. Crisp to start, less crisp and a bit dry late.

Overall: a decent and easy to drink beer.

12 oz. can - freshness date on all six are illegible (I can make out the year - 17).

It pours almost all foam. One of them exploded. A golden copper body eventually comes through. A thin sheet of lacing sticks.

The smell is of pine, black pepper and caramel.

The taste is of pine that comes across almost like Pinesol. Watered down grain balances the resiny, woody character.

A bit fizzy, I'm wondering if something was wrong with this batch.

It does have a piney woody character.

Poured from a can into a pint glass. Good citrusy scent on the nose that does not translate into the taste. Looks fine but the taste is lacking. Nothing special, just typical, hoppy Pale Ale.
