Large industrial building next to the train tracks in the center of downtown. Busy lunch crowd, and great covid protocols. Server were friendly and efficient. A dozen beers on tap, I had the Hazy Angel, which was very nice. Also had the Brussels sprouts which were excellent and arrived at the table minutes after they were ordered. Very enjoyable visit, although parking is a pain downtown.

This place was so awesome, after a long day of tourism we stopped in to get some food, and it was packed. We were in no rush so we sat at the bar while we waited for a table to open up. The beers were god especially the IPAs (Knotty Pine comes to mind). The atmosphere was incredible the place was filled, but not unreasonably loud. The high light of this place was definitely the Food, namely their Bavarian soft pretzels, so good we got a second order of them. Highly recommended, although if you are in a time crunch get reservations ahead of time!

Nice place, bar area and patio are pretty cool, right on the tracks downtown, beer and food were good but nothing too special. Staff was great. Prices were pretty reasonable as well. Good place to take the college kids with the rest of the family or a place for the adults to hang.

Enjoyed two good beers here, a porter and a good lager. The beer selection could have been a bit better, as could the service but both were fine. Food selection was great and all in my part seemed to enjoy theirs, even a three year old boy!

Pretty good vibe. One of the bartenders was pretty good. One was a bit inattentive to put it nicely. later in the restaurant had great service from to of the servers. Beers range from ok to quite good- Abineau Imperial Amber and Knotty Pine Pale Ale. Food was excellent and fairly well priced. I definitely recommend eating here. Vietnamese Burger, Pozole, and even their fries were all excellent.

Was passing through Flagstaff on a Grand Canyon road trip, did a quick search for breweries in the area, and ended up giving this one a shot. You can tell it's a local favorite; even on a Sunday night it was fairly busy, but the wait was very reasonable. They had a nice beer selection with a style for just about anybody to go along with a solid menu with some cool unique items as well as some brew pub standards. The beer was alright though nothing special, but the food was great.

Stopped here with the family after a day of hiking around the Grand Canyon. Pulled in around 8 on a Wednesday and the place was pretty empty. They don't have the biggest selection, I think maybe 9 of their beers were on tap, but the flight I tried was solid across the board. Nothing that totally blew me away, but definitely good. The food was pretty stellar. Our sandwiches and burgers were awesome. They also had a kid's menu, which was nice. Staff was friendly, service was good, prices were very reasonable, and they have a fridge with six-packs and bombers to go.

Always a great and dependable place to stop for food and beer. Not always a huge selection of taps but the beer is fresh and the staff is friendly. Love stopping in during some winter weather and sipping a beer and watching the snow fall.

After a 6 hour hike down and back up in the Grand Canyon, the wife and I wanted a cold beer. Quickly googled breweries in Flagstaff and found this place. The place has hoping but the service was quick and friendly. Solid beer selection, they had a hefeweizen which is the wife's favorite. I liked the ipa. Would go back anything I am in the area again.

The beers here are all solid and enjoyable (albeit not as good as Mother Road right down the street). But the interior feels very much like a chain restaurant and dirty college bar and this is only compounded by the full liquor bar. I suppose for some, this is great since it provides more options and perhaps a more fun environment, but it certainly detracts from the beer.

But again, the beer's good here. Here are my recollections (with help from Untappd) of the brews I tried:

Red Ale- A respectable beer. Malty with a slight hop character. I could enjoy this on occasion, although Red Ales aren't my go-to beer. 3.5/5

Rasberry Ale- Light, wheaty with a fruity profile, although I didn't immediately think raspberry. Not my style or preference, but tolerable. 3/5

Pilsner- Again, a decent beer, if nothing remarkable. I don't remember getting a lot of the spiciness and bite that I usually expect from the hops in a pilsner, but it was smooth and crisp, as it should be. 3.5/5

American Brown- I remember liking it, but not being blown away. The roasted brown malt notes were subdued and didn't suggest much as far as coffee, chocolate or other flavors. 3.5/5

High Water Imperial IPA- Smooth and drinkable for an IPA, but this really didn't have the a compelling aroma or a lot of hop character on the tongue. It was smooth and creamy and had a good malt profile, which normally I like in an IPA as I want some balance, but strangely, the hops here weren't what I was looking for. Still, drinkable and good. 3.5/5

As I said before, you'll get some good beers here, but nothing so memorable or midn-blowing as to require a return trip.

Visited here with Da Boss on the way to our resort on 7-20-14.

Atmosphere was good as there was a nice porch to accommodate a couple of desert dwellers on a 77 degree afternoon. Inside was kind of tight as there was about the same amount of seating as the outside. Bar was long and narrow. I think they had about ten taps going.

Quality of the beer was pretty good. Da Boss enjoyed the Red Ale and actually had two pints which says a lot given she is a one pint kind of girl most often.

Selection was pretty good as they had all there house beers plus some cider and i think PBR.

Food was good. Da Boss had the southwest style of salad which she enjoyed and i liked. I had the Pulled Pork sandwich which was good albeit on the sweet side from the pineapple in the slaw.

Overall it was pretty reasonable. Pints where $4.50 and our platters were $9.

Definitely stop in as they have some very good award winning beers on tap!

Pleasantly surprised with this place. I'm passing through town and staying the night and decided to stop. As for the food selection, it's big but limited - lots of burgers and sandwiches, typical bar starters, but little else. But the burger I had was really one of the best I have had recently. Good beef, perfectly cooked. Very good toppings. I have had so many average burgers at so many establishments, it's really nice to eat a good one. Their chili is pretty decent too.

Now for the beers - my general impression is they are underrated here on BA. Service was pretty good for happy hour (5pm on a Friday) - never had to wait more than a minute to get someone's attention (I sat at the bar for dinner). Overall, I was very happy with Lumberyard, and took a growler back to my hotel.

Visited July 12, 2013 at the end of a fantastic week on a Lake Powell houseboat. Given that I love trains and beer, I'll give this place a 5 for atmosphere sitting out on the patio as train after train passed by. Good crowd of outdoorsy young tourist and college types. Had a flight of six beers and I liked (but not loved) almost all of them. Our waitress was super attentive and helpful. Food was good, but pretty focused towards burgers, wings, and other typical bar offerings.

Went to the Lumberyard as the first stop of my Brewery Tour of CO. Going through Flag and ABQ then up to Denver and beyond. The staff was friendly service was quick and our server was attentive but not overly attentive. The food was fresh and came out hot. My friend, a mac and cheese expert it turns out (but who knew), says the mac and cheese is the best restaurant mac and cheese "ever". My sandwich was good as well but the menu is typical of most breweries in AZ (which I will review the nest time I visit). Service was the best thing about this brewery.

Had a flight of beers: the Red Ale, IPA, Hefeweizen, Pilsner, and a seasonal that I can't remember. I liked the Hefeweizen and the Red Ale the best and would have got a pint of the red and maybe a glass of the "hefe", too, but the dinging noise from the train was non-stop. Once it got going the rumble is tolerable but we were already on our way. Therefore, the noise is a negative and our server said that the train may have hit something or someone and may ding for a long time. So out we went. They are dog friendly if you sit on the patio and your dog is tied to the fence and is outside the fence. (Try San Tan Brewery in Chandler for a better experience). These factor huge in atmosphere and the vibe of this place.

The inside seats as many (about) as outside. Large TVs on the walls. They sell some of their beers to go in bottles. I didn't ask about growlers as I didn't have a full beer to want to take one home. It looked as though they only had their beers on tap at this time.

This is one of our favorite places to have lunch when we're in Flagstaff. They have a very nice restaurant right near the train station. The decor is rustic western and very comfortable and pleasant. The quality of this restaurant is very nice and we always enjoy ourselves. Service is friendly and reasonably fast. The beer selection would benefit from a good selection of guest taps. I had the pulled pork the last time I was there and it was great, others had Irish eggrolls and love them and not so much the Vietnamese burger, it was good but not great. Value is reasonable for what you get.

7 Lumberyard beers on tap, including a good mix of styles, plus 2 guest taps, Both tables and bar stools in bar area; additional indoor seating; large patio good for watching trains on the very nearby and busy tracks. Very meaty and rather good chili. Spinach dip was even better. Noisy, at least later at night.

Fairly decent brewery/restaurant owned by the folks of Beaver St. Brewing Co. Nothing really stands out here except the wings which come naked and dusted with an awesome seasoning and your choice of sauces on the side. The wife and I really enjoyed them. The IPA is good as well. Overall the place seemed alot like a chain type of brewpub. Lots of better offerings in flag I think. Although this a nice place to take the family. Outside is a sitting area with a large fire pit that is really nice when the snow starts to come down. Also, you can buy some of the beers in bottles, cans, or a growler.

An impressive, seemingly new, facility with the brewery visible through some glass. The beer was of very good quality with an impressive selection. I tried an IPA with a good west coast profile and a nice barleywine that seemed to have potential for aging. Everything was served in appropriate glassware.

Service was good as was the food. We had some fried mac and cheese balls and I had a really good California style burrito. Definitely a worth while stop and probably the best beer related stop we made in Flagstaff.

Stop #325 on my world brewery tour.

Visited with my wife and 10-month-old daughter around 5:00 after a day at the Grand Canyon and some shopping a block north in historic downtown Flagstaff.

Sat at a booth in the bar with a nice view out onto the patio and nearby train tracks (quite a few BNSF trains coming through).

Had a sampler...
IPA - bitter with strong English and American hop profile
Imperial red - 9.4%
Trippel - 10.8% excellent balance - not too sweet
Marzen - same as at Beaver Street - one of the best I've had
Hefe
Porter - very nice chocolate and roasty flavor

They share some beers with their sister brewery Beaver Street but I prefer Lumberyard as it has a better environment and their beers are more adventurous and up my alley.

Stopped in after having lunch at their sister brewery, Beaver Street just down the road in downtown Flagstaff.

Entrance is right of the main street in downtown Flagstaff, though we came at it from the street behind. A very cool exterior with remnants of the previous use for the building, a lumber mill and yard (flecked paint on the bricks recognizing this previous use). Near the entry way there are is room for outdoor seating with a firepit. We stopped in while there was snow still on the ground so that was not a seating option, but I bet its a great spot to be in warmer weather.

Entryway breaks between the bar area and the seating area. Very well done inside, with a mix of reused space from the lumber mill and new fixtures for the brewery, bar and restaurant. Nicely open, with great big windows facing north east. Bar has room for 20 at the bar plus some booth seating.

Quality of the building and bar setup was great, nice and clean, good presentation of the beer sampler we tried. Nice deal on the sampler, with 6 brews, all of which were true to style and well worth tasting. Beers of note were the porter, imperial red and belgian.

Service was good, helpful and attentive, but it was also early in the day and not busy.

Did not get to try the food, but it appeared to be standard pub fare. If the quality of the food was similar to Beaver Street, it should be very good.

Value is just right, great pricing for a quality selection of beers.

Great place with even better beers. Happen to hit it over Labor Day weekend with the family so pretty packed. After a short wait was seated in the bar area. Would have peferred the patio but due to the great weather provided by the city of Flagstaff wait was way too long. Solid selection of craft brews and settled on the Imperial Red. OMG...off the hook. One of the best beers going. Big flavorful and packing a punch. After that, Lumberyard IPA tasty as well. Ordered food, lots of choices but settled on burgers and apps. Excellent selection of apps with pretty solid pricing. Next time...will enjoy the patio. Looked like a great party!

Visited this place twice in 3 days in between fly fishing expeditions in Oak Creek Canyon.

My brother in law and I had about half an hour on a Sunday the first time we stopped in before our party was leaving back for the cabin. We swing in really quick and ordered a sampler. Out of the sampler our favorites were the Tripel and the IPA. I ordered a pint of the IPA before we had to leave.

Skip ahead two days later, on a Tuesday around noon. We stopped in for lunch and to really get a good look around this new place. I believe it is a 'sister' brewery to Beaver Street Brewery which is literally 2 blocks down the road. This used to be a lumberyard (duh) for many years due to its proximity to the railroad tracks, which are literally alongside the parking lot.

As you walk in, to your left is a nice taproom with seating for approximately 15 people as well as some tables behind. There is a large patio which is really nice to enjoy during the summer. Also near the entrance is the to-go shop. You can buy an assortment of t-shirts, polos, hats and the like. The best part is that they have 2 large coolers with all of the to-go beers easy to see and prices clearly posted. They offer 22oz bombers as well as their Red Ale in CANS, which I thought was genius, being a fisherman and all.

To the right of the entrance is the general restaurant seating area. There are tiered levels of tables which allows you to look across the restaurant into the actual brewery. One entire wall is a glass window which you can stand up there and look into the brewery with all the equipment easy to see. It would be really cool to see when they are brewing. The decor is fairly typical of a brewpub but not cluttered. Some signs, industrial corrugated metal dividers, and lots of wood construction. There are flat screen throughout the place but not too many where it feels like a sports bar.

The Food. The appetizers we ordered were the hummus plate which came with 2 different kinds of hummus. One was a black bean, which apparently was the best (I didn't actually have any). I was busy digging into the other appetizer which was called "The Mess." It is a giant plate of french fries covered with brown gravy, onions, queso fresco (I think) and some other goodness. I thought it was really good, however unhealthy it was! For the entree, I ordered the California Tri-tip sandwich, that apparently is their house favorite. The tri-tip was well cooked and came on a garlicky roll. I found it to be pretty run-of-the mill and didn't 'wow' me.

The beer. During the lunch, I had the Imperial Red which came in the proper glassware. This beer was freakin' AWESOME. This is by far the best Red I have ever tasted. I actually picked up a bottle from their cooler to bring home (will review). For dessert I had the Imperial Porter. This one was good, but not outstanding, pretty run of the mill. The IPA I had a few days earlier was also very good, nice hops but a little weak on the malt (tasted all hops).

Overall, I really enjoyed my visits here. I think this brewery is clean, great atmosphere, decent food, and very good brews. I love the fact that they have a gigantic window into the brewery. The wait staff were nice and provided suggestions on food and beer if asked. The large outdoor patio is a great idea, especially in the summer. If I was an out-of-town visitor, I would definitely come here over the other breweries in town, some of which are directly across the street...

Good job Lumberyard and I'll see you next time I'm at the cabin...perhaps you'll have a stout or IIPA by then?...
