Had on tap at the brewpub a couple years ago when I was in Shanghai.
Nice creamy nitro head but smaller, thick lacing, clear auburn chestnut brown color.
Nose is like a Belgian, big fruity date, little sweet but not syrupy or candy like, mild toasted brown malts, sweet malt, a mild toasted almost coffee like note, hint brown sugar, toffee notes.
Taste brings sweet brown sugar, little toffee, candied dates, biscuity toffee candy but not too sweet. Mild bitterness, little earthy spicy hop note but light, sweet dates, fig paste syrup notes, mild toasted brown malt. Light fruity esters, and hint of phenols in the background. Finish sweet but dry and bitter, lingering dates and syrupy candy.
Mouth is med bod, little syrupy, light creamy nitro carb.
Overall decent, like Jackie said trying to dial in the sweetness as it's hard to get the right dates and blend sweetness, this came out a bit too sweet but still pretty nice.
