40cl pour from draft at Brasserie Le Meteor in Strasbourg. Another one that drinks better than its average here but again, will always be better from draft versus bottle. Richer and more flavorful than most traditional light lagers, this has a grainy but tasty malt bill and finished with a slight bitterness from the hops. Wouldn’t seek out again but enjoyable nonetheless.

Sep. 2008: 330 ml green bottle, now available in Norway. The label only says "Meteor Bière d’Alsace". ABV is 4.6%. Crystal clear pale golden colour, big white head. Initially a citrussy and sweetish Heineken-like aroma (an American would probably say "skunky", but I don’t mind), the aroma sort of "dies" in the glass. Fairly "clean" pale lager flavour, moderately sweet and slightly citrussy, very moderate hops, not offensive but far from exciting.

Milder at 4.5% than the 'Retired' version of 5.0%.
L- Mid amber, clear, pours with 3mm white head.
S- Very bready with a touch of richness to it.
T- Bready, some hints of toasty and into a carbonated and mildly hoppy finish.
F- It's got a decent mouth-feel for 4.5%, some body, some oomph.
O- For a 'lager' it's a league apart from a 'factory euro-lager'. It has decent body + feel. It's a bit light on character and notable flavour. Kind of beer I'd drink at a BBQ on a summers day, not one I'd buy again because of inherent star quality.
330ml bottle BB: 06/12/2020. £1.90 bought from Nicolas (wines) London W11.

While classified properly as a Euro pale, Meteor lager is a better beer than the ratings.
This beer should be rated alongside of food. It is malty and a complement to the buttery pasta sauce I had.
This lager is reviewed in the "1001", but arguably it should not be on the list because there are many, many undifferentiated lagers that are designed to tolerate the butter, garlic and herbs of French food.

A: The beer is relatively clear amber yellow in color and has a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with delicate lacing on the surface and a collar of bubbles around the edge of the glass.
S: Light aromas of pale malts and fruity esters are present in the nose.
T: Similar to the smell, the taste has flavors of pale malts with notes of apple cider. No bitterness is perceptible. Sight hints of yeast are noticeable towards the finish.
M: It feels light-bodied and a little watery on the palate with a low to moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer goes down easily and doesn't have any "off" or skunked flavors that one might expect from a green bottle but is somewhat bland and undercarbonated.
