this is awesome beer, better than i remember their previous gose being, this is more overtly salty, and the oak profile is really nice, its distinct to cascade, but still fits well within the style guidelines, just a little more flavorful and complex than a lot of these, more interesting on the fermentation side too. still insanely priced, like 16 bucks for the small bottle, seems high for what this is, but once i taste it i cant complain. its got a light golden color, good shine, and is pretty clear through most of the bottle, with a patchy white head and some slowly rising bubbles. the aroma here is puckery, lemony, lactic, and oak heavy, with subtle vanilla and coriander notes to it, really fresh somehow and mature at the same time, and there is some of the saltiness and minerals evident too, not apparently as sour as a lot of their beers are. the flavor is excellent, the brine character from the salt pops right away, the wheat malt base is clean with just a touch of floral honey sweetness through most of it, some nice wild funkiness on top of the tidy lacto souring, and not too much acidity or sting from it, mellowed well by the oak, hints of white wine, pear, coriander, lemon, and even elderflower. i love all the oak on it, and the salt that really picks up in the second half of it, drying, neat with the sourness, and kind of lasting, creating an earthy overall vibe for this. really solid example of the style, still overpriced, but downright delicious!
