oak aged gose with orange zest, lemongrass, coriander, and coastal sea salt, tasty and summery, maybe a little more grain in the mix than needed, and not quite as alive from the tap as i hoped it would be, salty though, citrus forward, refreshing, and unique, not as sour as a lot of the cascade stuff either, and as such more drinkable than a lot of them. its golden in the glass, maybe more brass toned, without a ton of head by the time it gets to our table but still enough carbonation when it drinks. the nose is mineral forward, wheaty, a little honey sweet, and nutty from the coriander, all of this in front of the citrus to me, but the flavor is the opposite, with the orange way up front, lemongrass right behind it. its floral to my senses too, delicate in the right places, lemony along with the orange too, and with a neat little ester from the ferment in here, green apple and white wine, enhanced by the oak and by the salt. its got a light olive bring thing happening, more coriander as it warms too, and a well tempered acidity, especially for these guys, drying and puckery but not harsh or sharp to me, even at temperature. i like that i can taste some wheat malt, the salt adds neat minerality to this, its slightly metallic too though, and the freshness may not be at is peak. i could use more from the lemongrass in the flavor, but overall i liked this being subtle in a lot of ways, and think the oak element is neat for a gose. cascade continues to hold my attention, everything is so ambitious and good!

12oz can that probably sat in my fridge for six months, poured into a snifter.

A: Crystal clear pale gold with minimal head and lacing.

S: Fairly strong lacto sourness and lemon character, with an underlying grassy and earthy character and something I would call a malt sweetness (not sure that’s what it is since this is a 5.5% abv gose), but this is mostly a tart, citrusy nose.

T: In line with the nose, grassy lemon peel; milky sourness; hint of coriander spice; smooth, faint wood sweetness from the barrel; salty finish. Not bracingly sour, but it’s definitely a present tartness.

MF: Light, dry, tart, refreshing, salty.

O: Wish it had more of the promised orange but overall I see the path this beer is on and Cascade delivered; it’s a good gose.

L: Generic blonde color
S: Strong citrus and lemongrass notes.
T: A start of gose that leads into an orange and lemongrass finish.
F: Light orange gose beer.
O: A simple enjoyable sour.
