"Brewer Curtis made this red rye beer to welcome the constellation Orion back into our skies. Flavorful with a pungent light hop taste; Brewer's Gold, Golding's with a Crystal hop finish."

This one-off rye ale was brewed in honor of the return of Orion to our skies. The house menu advises us to, "Try it... it's different!" Well, yeah... it's different. The first thing you notice about O-rye-on is its ultra dry lemon zest aroma that tends to hover on the breath. The taste similarly emulates dry, lemon-citrus qualities with an earthy hop spiciness suggestive of winter warmers. The body is full and wholesome and smooth and the color of wet cinnamon.

O-rye-on comes at you like a curve ball and is challenging to navigate or categorize. Rye beers tend to be modest pale ales whose dry refreshment value makes for an ideal summertime thirst quencher. This one is darker, heavier, and too complex for casual appreciation. Still, it's far from boring and makes for an interesting excursion.
