Picked this up recently at Gary's in Madison as I never had anything from Cascade before. This could have been classified as a Sour Ale too as this brew was quite complex, especially as it warmed up. While this was a Blonde Ale above all else, there was enough going on here that it could have been easily mistaken for something else, which made this a bit tough to pinpoint!
Of course, this poured blonde with plenty of foam to top it off with quite a few bubbles in the liquid as this appeared to be quite soapy. Lots of sourness, Mosaic, and lemon in the nose as the taste was on par with that. Slick, sticky, and quite puckering, there was some bread in the body and a steady carbonation that kept this as light as could be with some grain. light spice, and fall fruit to round it out.
This was a beer but the alcohol seemed to be nearly missing from this as I never tasted or felt it throughout my session. It was sour enough to hide any of that and so full that the hops were quite recessed when it came to the bitterness. Canned on 2/2 of last year, this held up well as it was plenty clear and not skunked or overly aged in the least. Simple in appearance yet just deep enough to hold my attention throughout, this almost needed to be in a category by itself as it was a fun, and intriguing, introduction to Cascade.
