2021 vintage i believe, a really neat beer from cascade i had not seen nor heard of before i found it locally on tap here in boise. wood aged sour blonde base, refermented on pinot noir grapes, right in my wheelhouse! a really pretty deep rose pink to ruby red colored brew, really clear for what it is, but almost no head on it, and quite light on the bubbles, almost has a vinous texture as a result, but refined looking and pretty even without the head. the nose on this is wonderful, tart like so many cascade beers but not over the top, less acetic than some, piquant without being insane. the fruit adds an obvious tannic property, notes of red raspberries and blooming flowers, and is most definitely hinting springtime rose, a little sweetness in the mix but not from grain it doesnt seem, light in that regard, and i am surprised its as strong as it is. the flavor is killer too, the grape are really bright and forward in here, not eliminated by excess acidity, and they are identifiable even as pinot noir, awesome! tart with a hibiscus note, cranberry, a light lemon thing to the acidity and some cool funk adding complexity as it warms, pretty woody too but not heavy from it, light vanilla and a textural smoothness there, really pleasant. i do wish for a little more carbonation, but this is pretty jovial even without it, the flavors just shout nice weather and cool ingredients, and the overall quality of this is really high. i love the complexity of the fruit with this yeast, and it almost hits like a natural wine. enjoyed this one, cascade continues to be one of the best in the region when it comes to this sort of thing. dont miss this if you like delicate and feminine pink wine this time of year, it plays in a similar space!
