On tap at The Hop and Vine for Zwanze Day.
Deep red with a thin, off-white head with poor retention and lacing, this beer is nice to look at nonetheless. The nose is a blend of rotting berries - raspberries and elderberries - along with a massive diacetyl character. Butter, some butter and more butter, along with oak. The palate is intensely lactic sour with no funk and a little vinegar. Plenty of butter, though. Harsh and unpleasant, this beer is medium-light in body, moderately carbonated and has a buttery finish. Poor.

On tap for the 2012 Peter Reeves Memorial Sourfest at Churchill’s Pub & Grille in San Marcos, CA.
Pours a hazy dark orange with a foamy bone colored head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Thin foamy streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is sour, tart, and funky with some berry, juniper, and spice aromas. Taste is much the same but not all that sour. There is a mild spice bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer that is tasty but not too sour.
