Beer Dinner with Cascade Brewing
Stone Brewing Co.
Escondido, CA
A murky dark amber and brown with a thin khaki colored head that leaves small dots of stick down the glass. Not a beauty pageant winner, but appropriate, nonetheless.
Fantastic dessert aroma: baked cinnamon apple crisps, caramel-covered Granny Smith apples, biscuit, dark malt, caramel, sticky toffee. I could swirl and sniff this all night.
The flavor is fantastic. Preston of Cascade said he wanted to create a beer that was "like drinking liquid cinnamon," and while I believe he succeeded, this beer is so much more than that. It's reminiscent of freshly baked Thanksgiving apple crisps (Granny Smith), along with a welcome sweet biscuit note. Incredibly delicious.
Medium to full in body with moderate carbonation.
Cascade out did themselves with this one. Incredible, complex, unique, delicious, interesting beer.
