Great looking appearance, substantially darker than what most blond ales are, this one is dark gold, approaching orange color. Great clarity. Looks more like an ipa than it does a blond ale, and I think thats a good thing. Small white head on the top, about 1/8" on the imperial pint.
Wow, they jam packed coffee into this one, and its damn good aroma. Strong coffee plus unsweetened honey aroma.
Taste, wow, how did they pack so much coffee into a light bodied ale? The ethiopian coffee was a great touch, generally a little lighter than other varieties, when paired here with a light bodied blonde ale, it allows the coffee to really seem pungent. It even takes on a mild fruity connotation along with it, probably from the yeast and malt moreso than the coffee, but maybe its the other way around.
I drank this beer three times. On tap at the brewery on Friday. Then I ordered a growler. Drank most of said growler on Saturday. A little shot of 5oz of the beer on Sunday.
I can't comprehend any other blond ale I would rather have. This is some phenomenal camping and tailgating beer right here.
