How do you rate a black saison? I think that's a really curious question I was unable to answer over the course of this brew's consumption. Pours near black like a porter, but with a fizzy head.
Smell isn't too pronounced, some yeasty notes and darker malts. Flavor is an odd mix, it's sweet and has rich bread notes, some yeast spice, bit of tartness, clean finish, and lots of fizzy carb. Body is quite light and it's easy to drink, although somewhat unremarkable.
I still think the idea of a black or dark saison is odd, and I think this one misses the mark ever so much. It's a nice light, tart, and fizzy beer, but I missing the purpose of it, I suppose.

Ester aromas, malty taste with a tart finish. Good beer using Saison yeast with a stout or porter approach.
