Collaboration with Crooked Stave Artisan Beer Project & Trois Dames
For Batch 1, all three breweries brewed the same beer at their separate breweries, fermented that beer with their own mixed culture, and then aged the beer in sherry barrels. The main distinction between Batch 1 and Batch 2 of Cerveza Sin Frontera is the barrels in which the beer rested. This batch of Cerveza Sin Frontera aged in cognac barrels as opposed to the sherry barrels used for Batch 1

Pours a playful brown with tints of violet. Smell has that cognac sweetness with the wood, belgian yeast more on the biscuit side of things, cherry, lots of flowers, and plum. Taste is thinner than expected, and sneaky sweet after yeasty and grainy waves. Carbonation was high, and body was surprisingly thin as well, but felt it lacked that delicate beauty to be an asset. Interesting but doesn't hold attention for long.

Definitely one of the more underrated JK offerings.
