the fad of session ipa is winding down pretty dramatically from what we saw a few years ago, but the good ones will stick around, and this is a good one, thats for sure. cool to finally have these guys in colorado, and cool that there appears to be no shortage of their beer whatsoever. this is on tap all over town. a nice orange tinted, crystal clear, and nice and heady session brew, with a bright hoppy nose that suggests a rather robust hop cuvee. hard to pick varietals in nose or taste, there are several for sure, but citra and amarillo are likely culprits i think. it has a juiciness to it, ripe and fresh, really quite pungent, but almost no bitterness to back it up, which is what keeps this one drinkable. i am surprised by all the body, and in fact, there is some grain flavor beyond pale barley malt in this, not sweet or big, but a moderate shade of crystal malt or honey malt is happening for sure. carbonated really well, and it does dry out in the end, but this is a session beer for real beer drinkers, not a watered down ipa, and its much appreciated in my end. first melvin beer ive had in awhile, and its great. hopefully it sticks around.

Pours a hazy no cloudy gold. An inch of foam. Some lacing.
All hop bitterness in the nose to me. Typical of this sub style. Pine and grapefruit.
Piney, grapefruit, hoppy without any balance from malt. My chief criticism of so called session IPAs.
Light bodied and bordering on the watery in the finish.
Low abvs are nice when done right. I have yet to be superly impressed with any so called session IPA.

Served On-Tap
A — Pours a mostly clear and light coppery yellow hue into the glass, there is a smooth near white colored head that forms on top and leaves behind some solid and consistent lacing.
S — Smell is light and bitter with some piney and citrusy hop notes of lemon, pine, and some light tropicality.
T — Dry and crisp clean hop notes of lemon, earth, pine, and citrus, a smooth and clean malt foundation.
M — Smooth, crisp, clean, refreshing.
O — Very nice overall, a great showcase of hops and malt, very very good session IPA.

Draft at b:30.. Hazy light amber.. okay head and no lacing... piney dank hops with some background grapefruit pithiness... pale malt is there, but very light almost making for a little bit watery "hop-water" brew.. Finishes very dry and abruptly.
Still for a session IPA, this rocks.
