Are you kidding me? This nectar of the gods is the best thing yet from those iconoclasts Kirk and Jeremy at Melvin Brewing. This brew is an incredible marriage of tropically fruity hops, fresh pink grapefruit, and almost a gin-like quality. Impeccably balanced, and bursting with flavor, this work of art also manages to elicit delicate nuances while boasting a rich, and somewhat oily body. Absolutely top tier in the IPA genre.

This exceptionally well-crafted brew tastes, to me, like Melvin 2X4 that was brewed with pink grapefruit. The tropical fruit nuances are there in spades, and the finish lasts forever.
I didn't think that 2X4 could be eclipsed, but this beauty did just that...wow!

I had this beer last weekend at a local triple IPA fest. we were lucky to have the shaolin and the 4X8 on tap from melvin. These guys know how to make some good beers! The shaolin was great replacement when the 4x8 blew. Its a solid 10% with a light golden color with a nice taste from the first sip. I wish i could have melvin beers all the time.

On draught at the Keg & Cork in Casper.
Pours a hazy light gold or colour, small head of foam, good lacing.
Tropical fruit burst out in splendor and glory with each and every whiff. Hoppy like crazy but doesn't smell really bitter.
The taste is reflective to the smell. Tropical fruit with an also abundant presence of grapefruit; malty sweetness that you usually find in your better brewed DIPAs. A level of dankness that exceeded my expectations. A drinkability factor that. .well. .is off the charts. That strong, is it? My oh my.
Near perfect mouthfeel and I am completely blown away.
I 10 ounce glass is all I can handle at one sitting but wow!

On tap at Powder Keg brewing in Niwot, CO. Orange color, decent head. Dank and piney smell, citrus, tons of hops. Flavor was sticky hops, piney, dank, citrusy, west coast for sure. This is a high quality double IPA, we are spoiled in Colorado.

A — Pours a deep reddish coppery hued amber into the glass with great clarity and translucence. Great rings of lacing left behind from a shallow light head.
S — Smell is hoppy and pungent with notes similar to 2x4, huge pine, grapefruit, citrus, lemon, earthy, lightly sweet.
T — Just waves of flavors with notes of fresh hops, pine, lemon, melon, grapefruit, very very nice.
M — Medium bodied, a little bit of a lingering sweetness.
O — Very nice overall, just eerily similar to 2x4.
