Review #1408
Continuing with the Melvin beers, I came across this goofy named IPA. Other than it skidding cheesy, I hope the contents inside are good. The beer is 44 degrees and served in a pint glass. The pour of the beer produced a two-fingered white head. The beer's retention is excellent. The foam from the beer left lacing on the glass. The color of the beer is SRM 6 golden yellow with amber hues. The beer is not hazy.
The initial aroma of the beer is toasted bread, pine, floral, grapefruit, resin, and lemons. Nosing in the glass, I smell biscuit, grass, a touch of dank, and a hint of herbal. The nose of the beer is faint. I had to smell the beer several times to get what I did.
The flavors in the beer are heavy floral ester, biscuit, musty dank, pine, grapefruit, resin, toasted malt, bread crust, bay leaves, lime, and oranges.
The mouthfeel of the beer is dry and astringent.
The body of the beer is medium, low carbonation, and a medium-plus finish.
This beer is unique. The malt in the beer towers over the hops. I am not living this beer. This is the first Melvin beer that I will not seek out again. To me, the hops are lost. The nose was faint and difficult to detect. The beer is a bit older and not fresh. Yet, do not detect cardboard or other signs of age. If it was fresher it might not make much difference. Okay is an okay beer.

A very tasty brew. Paid $2.45 for a 12 oz can, so I was hoping it was going to be a good brew; and it was. Upon opening, it gave off a hint of citrus, like a cross between pineapple and grapefruit. It poured a hazy dark-amber hue, like a New England IPA style. It poured a nice foamy head that quickly left behind some nice lacing. The taste was crisp, tart, it tingled on the tongue like grapefruit. Definitely, a brew to have with ham and swiss-cheese sandwiches. The overall effect was a pleasing experience. Also, just to say, it was the first brew I ever had from the state of Wyoming and I hope to have more.

12 oz can from the Boise Co-op. Light amber colored with a one finger head. Light hoppy, fruity aroma. Taste is more of the snappy hops, almost a little spice. Grapefruit peel and caramel malts round out the beer. Tasty on a hot summer day.

Clear smoky amber color with plenty of foam in the Hopleaf goblet. The sudsy mouthfeel promises pleasure to come. Aroma of orange and cedar boughs. Flavor of citrus peels burning slowly on the lips. A juicy but clean and crisp flavor profile.
Well, it's more than a "hint" of bitterness but it's within friendly parameters. Modest sweet malt to start and grapefruit zest in the aftertaste. From the 12 oz can purchased at Pioneer Market in La Conner, Wash.

12 oz can dated 10/18/19 poured into White Elm Willie Beecher.
Hazy amber-gold with a tall creamy head of 3 fingers receding to 1 with lots of webby thick lacing on the glass.
Tons of delicious citrus on the nose, with some blueberry, pineapple, hay, basil, and grapefruit zest.
Flavor starts with grapefruit and blueberry, and leads into juicy tangerine and orange, with honey, coriander, flaky biscuit, and dry grass. This is a good beer.
Feel is nicely carbonated with a creamy follow-up. Resins clinging.
Overall I fell in love with this beer at a growler filling station and immediately got a growler fill. It was gone before I even had a chance to review it. I just drank it straight down. Now that I found a six pack I can pace myself. It's a little less appealing from the can but still a phenomenal beer. I don't get the low reviews on this, it's pretty damn fine.

On tap at Melvin - Eureka, MO. Poured a clear, golden orange color with a small, off-white head of foam. It smelled of pine, citrus and toasted caramel. Sweet caramel malt with a sharp, piney bitterness and a hint of orange.

This one is billed as a West Coast IPA that is brewed in Wyoming. But in reality, it’s like when you go to a Mexican restaurant in Tokyo, or ask for a cheese burger in London - you’re playing with fire.
As far as this beer right here goes... Actually, nah, I can’t even praise it in any way. It’s not downright terrible, but like Tara Reid post The Big Lebowski, well, you get the picture. It just tastes weird. There is no tropical fruit. There is no West Coast bitterness... It’s just funky like Mark Wahlberg post whatever.
Pass.
