somehow i missed this one when the cans were around, but i am thankful to have been able to find it on tap, its really solid, and even though these guys arent known for their sour beers, this is very expertly done. clean kettle sour vibes to me, but its more complex than just the typical lactic thing, its got some deeper bacterial pucker and some light estery funkiness, slightly more rustic and nuanced than most of these sorts. its also done with guava and passion fruit, a neat combination of summery fruit essences for this. i get way more passion fruit than guava, it has cool tartness of its own and a mouthwatering juiciness, but the sweet guava is there in the center too, well proportioned and both very natural to me. i like that i can still taste and feel some wheat malt, so many of these are without any real grain character, so it stands out to me as an awesome base both for the acidity that is developed in here and also for the tropical fruit. some lemon and orange notes in the mix here as well, an almost saison yeast element as it warms too, and steady acidity without being so gripping i dont want to drink a couple of these. its clean on the finish, drier than it starts, and rather complex overall. the passion fruit is amazing in this, and the beer overall is smartly and professionally crafted. its awesome melvin is doing sours at this level now, i was really impressed with this one! quenching and flavorful and unique!

Lucky 777

Bought at Hazel's in Bould CO. Canned: 07/01/20 , Consumed: 12/15/20

A&S: Very lively slightly non-transparent yellow colored beer. Fizzy white head dies right away and leaves not a speck of lacing or ring of head. Kinda pour like a light lager. Side note, the beer pours much better at the end. Smells like a typical kettle sour, puckeringly sour, articfical.

T&M: Sour. Mostly just sour. hints of apricots and passion fruit. Shockingly mouthfeel might be the best part of this brew. crisp carbonation but medium and feeling enough body.

Overall: The label and brewery sold me on this. I was kinda surprised melvin would brew this so I wanted to give it a try, honestly, I am disappointed. Wouldn't recommend it. Great brewery, below average beer.

Straw yellow in color with lots of fine sediment within the body. There’s a fingernail of dishwater white around the rim and covering three quarters of the top. The aroma is of passion fruit and it seems very artificial. I’m tasting passion fruit and guava. The mouth is moderately carbonated and the guava provides a cooling sensation to the mouth.
