Poured on-tap at the brewery and served in a tulip, the beer is a crystal clear, golden-yellow coloring, with a filmy, sparse, white head. Nose of evergreen, spearmint, tea leaves, lemon, and herbal highlights. Flavors are light lemon and spice forward, with an herbal, grassy, spicy end character. Smooth, dry feel, with an herbal and spiced aftertaste. The finish is frothy and light.

A- Pale yellow pour from the tap to a snifter with a slight haze to it. A foamy white cap builds to a finger with pretty good retention falling to a puffy sheet atop the brew. Spotty lace and some drizzle.
S- Lemon herbal hops and spicy Saison yeast. A bouquet of herbal tea, lemon zest, ginger, pepper, floral, orange and spicy notes.
T- Intensely spicy Saison yeast with a clear compliment from the Sorachi hops. Hops give lemon mostly with some herbal and floral qualities that blend with the yeast's ginger, pepper and zesty spicy flavors.
MF- Body is on the light side overall but it has a moderately creamy and puffy texture that supports everything. High end foamy carbonation really promotes the spicy and herbal flavors. Finishes with a spicy bitterness.
I can taste the base Saison but the Sorachi adds plenty of character that compliments the house yeast. Spicy and lemon zesty.

Pours a fizzy pale yellow in the globe wine glass. Modest head but loads of lacing. Sprightly mouthfeel. Interesting flowery hop aroma.
This does have a lemony sort of taste. The hops are not really much in evidence, but this is a little more bitter than a lot of Saisons. The yeasty flavor gets a little strong towards the bottom of the bottle.
This has the classic lighter style of Saison flavor. Quite pleasant and drinkable. From the 750 ml bottle purchased at Wilbur's Total Beverage in Fort Collins.

750 ml bottle. Bottled 6/20/2014.
Served cold on a hot summer day, Sorachi is a pale golden yellow color with only a slight haze. The head is thick at first but gradually settles leaving some spotty lacing behind.
Aroma is fresh and citrusy with the predominant fruit being lemon, as the label leads one to expect. Slight undertones of a peppery yeast are also present.
Flavor is mild but full of depth. Layers of lemon and pepper are at the forefront but there's also some subtle floral and herbal notes. The saison yeast is less forward than in authentic Belgian examples but this beer is more about that Sorachi hop.
Mouthfeel is light in body and perfectly carbonated. Very well balanced and and interesting to drink.
Overall an excellent summer saison and certainly worth enjoying while the weather is hot.

Pours light yellow with a whitish hue and a nice white head. Aroma is bright and crisp; lemon, floral, cracker, pepper, and grass. Flavor follows suit with a dry and slightly bitter finish. A thinner, crisp and active mouthfeel. Overall, a homerun from Funkwerks here. Great stuff.
