Growler purchased from Naked Dove Brewing Company in Canandaigua, NY.
This one pours a light chocolatey brown color, with a small white head, and just a hint of lacing.
Smells like warm chocolate-flecked smoke, ash, a hint of coffee and caramel, and some breadiness.
This is absolutely wonderful- Naked Dove nailed a style that's generally pretty hard to pull off. The smoke is "warm," and not harsh, and mildly reminds you of smoked meat, with a good amount of chocolate, and light caramel, with some light coffee too, in the background.
This is very creamy and very drinkable, with a good level of carbonation.
I'm not all that surprised that Naked Dove did a good job with this one. They are usually very adept at German-style beers.
