An American version of the English Extra Special Bitter. A dark copper colored ale with a medium body, which is dominated by hop bitterness and flavor.

Appears a deep copper tone with a cream head nicely formed leaves behind fine lacing. Aroma is somewhat musty in the malt department and hops come with more citrus, floral, and earthy notes. Flavor is dominated with bitterness with a touch of caramel tones finishes funky in a hard to describe manner, again I need some balance even in my hopped up brews. Mouthfeel is medium bodied evenly carbonated served at proper temp. like all of their brews they offer. Drinkability is decent but much better hoppy beers are among us.

Rapidly becoming a popular one at the Pittsburgh brewpub, an Enlgish ESB with generous hops. Lace. Hoppy citrus aroma. The 3c hops plus Tomahock hops. Some balance, but definately on the bitter side and meeting the hophead demand. I liked it, but it struck me as neither an ESB nor an IPA.
