Light notes of red wine, oak, Apple brandy, light bourbon, chocolate malt, dark cherry, date and dark fruit. Had this on draft and enjoyed it immensely.

Thanks to Sanderson for dropping this extra into a fall trade, one that brought much joy & happiness to my town. 22 oz. bottle split with my wife as a celebration of coming home from a week in the distant coal mines of San Diego. Bottled 10/24/14.

The pour even looks funky, weathered red paint chips mixed in with clay court runoff & flatland earth. Surprisingly carbonated for a big, bourbon, odd old ale. The nose is mostly wine & sharp, which I would think was a lot of wine if I didn’t know there was brett in this.

Raver’s Old Ale is curiously mundane; expecting back-flips & a maltese cross, instead there’s a handstand. The malty sweetness of the old ale is held onto by the barrels. The wine imparts some sharp vinous notes, & the bourbon a low heat. Apple brandy might be felt on the finish, but if it weren’t advertised, I wouldn’t pick it out. The brett is surprisingly tame, adding a dry element & a sprinkling of green apple skin. Strangely drinkable, as I keep raising the glass inquisitively.

Interesting, but ultimately a pretty tame beer for what went into the making. Pretty good.

had a small pour - but it had a lot going on for an old ale. could taste the bourbon and red wine. a good beer that I would like to try again. the brett wasn't as present as I would of thought.

Enjoyed a bottle of this at a recent bottle share. Interesting old ale aged in three different barrels (bourbon, red wine, and apple brandy barrels) also with brett

Infected gusher with a sour nose and even worse flavor once it finished erupting.
