Skipping right to dessert, the sixth anniversary for Westbrook is kind, sweet, creamy and subtlety robust. Brewing a hazelnut infused tiramisu flavored imperial stout shows a ton of imagination, restraint and irresistibility.
6th anniversary Double Hazelnut Tiramisu pours an expected black color and cast with a rich espresso-like creme. Its rich and decadent scent teases the nose with the individual parts of espresso, chocolate, cream, cake, hazelnut and toffee that make up both the tiramisu dessert and the imperial stout. Rich on the early palate, the stouts flavor leads with caramel, toffee, vanilla and sweet cream to ensure a rich and malty focus.
And as the middle palate unfolds, the sweet and roasty aspects of stout fuse with sweet and savory aspect of dessert for a bittersweet and savory flavor of fresh roasted coffee, toasted granola, caramel, honey and soft vanilla spice. A coffee-like bitterness with cocoa and robust nuttiness turn the corner and attempts to dry the later palate. All the while the succulence of hazelnut offers a butter rum, soft cashew delicacy that engulfs the entire session.
Full in body and capturing the taste of tiramisu with utter ease. Its creamy and luscious texture and taste seems almond and marzipan-like ahead of a bittersweet espresso finish and a long aftertaste of coffee & cream, candied nuts and kaluha spice.
