Can dated 8/9/22. I was a little worried upon first getting a whiff of this one because I wasn't sure if it refermented or what, but the first sip was heavenly. The mashup of sour fruit smells smelled a little intense at first because of the assortment of fruits mixed with the strong coconut, but man it's really well done. Ruby red body with a quickly dissipating pinkish head. The body and carbonation is very lively and nice. It actually does taste like an ambrosia salad and its adjuncts are very present and expressive. Tangerine check, very well tart and juicy with fresh citrus. Cherry check, it colors the brew, adds a little tartness and plenty of sweet cherry notes. Pineapple check, it adds to the expressive tart and juiciness and melds well with the pastry characteristics. Marshmallow is plentiful all around the beer, and the coconut is heavily present as well and certainly anchors it down. A very delightful sour.

Cherry red and moderately hazy with two fingers of off white head. The smell is a fruit with a slight sour note. The tasrefollows the nose and turns to fruit punch the longer you drink it. Reminded my sister-in-law of bridal shower punch. Medium to light body with moderate carbonation. I got this in Hendersonville North Carolina and I’m drinking it in Canton August 14, 2023.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Appearance - The beer poured a shade of red that brought to mind cherry wine. The color was fitting.

Smell - The cherry is prominent in the nose, but the marshmallow is the dominant force. The beer smells like desert.

Taste - The profile is much more like Ambrosia than beer. Maraschino cherries lead the way in the taste profile. The marshmallow follows, creating a smooth sweetness. Pineapple came in toward the back with a measure of sweetness and tartness. No part of the profile was overly sour, which would have ruined the Ambrosia profile. The pineapple stuck to the roof of the mouth, creating a dry sensation that made me want to drink more.

Mouthfeel - The bubbly beer had some definite stickiness from the lactose.

Overall - I am generally not a fan of kettle sours, but this was very well crafted.

 

 

Pours out a dark red or ruby. A nice finger of foamy, soapy white head.

Nose is par for the course of a sour. Tart and sour aromas. Fruit is present, but the one that is most dominant is cherry. Get candy on the nose from the lactose and marshmallow. Brightens it up. Tropical notes and citrus show up as it warms, but right out of the can it seemed like cherry was the only that showed up.

Taste has more character. Cherry, mild coconut, citrus, pineapple, marshmallow candy. Way on the back end is the malt outro and its presence is quite strong. Bready and grainy. Like whole wheat bread.

Mouthfeel is a smooth medium to full bodied with mild to medium carbonation. This is a sticky and cloying sour. The sugar bringing quite a large amount of density. Like a syrup.

Overall, a solid Weisse from Westbrook. Not my favorite of theirs, but good.

Raspberry lemonade appearance with a white ring, whimsical. This sets the tone for this fun beer, cherry and tangerine lead the nose with full marshmallow and light coconut contrasting with sweetness, pineapple and mango settle in behind it all. Taste is wonderful, take the nose but cut the sweetness by half and in it's place give slightly tart juice, lime, lemon and orange added to the mix in accenting roles. Drinks like fruit juice, sweet, slightly tart, very fruity and whimsically fun. Pop this open next late summer, so fun.

16 oz can, dated 9/28/20, into Prairie Rastal.

Cranberry colored body, with a bubble gum pink head of 2 fingers, receding to nothing in a short span.

Aroma smells like wedding punch, with added lacto bacteria and a touch of marshmallow. The berries are bright and effervescent.

The flavor brings lots of marshmallow, along with cranberry, cherry, orange fluff dessert, and very slight coconut. All the elements are here for ambrosia. Very nice.

Feel is zippy - carbonated and acidic, with a bit of exciting movement on the tongue and a shocking finish. It's like drinking shock tarts. No alcohol heat to speak of.

Overall, a stellar sour beer. I like this Ambrosia better than Southern Grist's version - both available in the great state of Tennessee. Both are good beers, but I like this one a bit more. Solid collaboration, although with Westbrook you can hardly go wrong.
