The 2018 bourbon variant doesn’t disappoint.
Bottle. Tan head. Black color.
Great peppers and vanilla. Sweet and spicy. Chocolate bar. Warming bourbon. Smooth and oaky. Thick. Fudgy. Cinnamon blends in perfectly with the peppers. Really awesome variant!

This one pours a fairly dark black color, with a small head, and not much lacing.
This one smells like spicy oak, caramelly bourbon, spicy pepper, sweet chocolate, vanilla, and cinnamon.
The barrel complements all of the flavors of the base Cake here - it's a spicy barrel character, and melds well with the obvious spiciness of the base beer, and the sweetness of the chocolate and vanilla. It gets a bit boozy at it warms, but nothing too harmful.
This is thick, and spicy, with a semi-decent level of drinkability - it's a slow sipper for sure.
It's crazy how every BA variant of Mexican Cake is just miles better than the base beer.

Poured into a wine glass. Viscous and opaque with a faint tan head. Lots of bourbon on the nose, but not overpowering, along with coffee, chocolate, vanilla, and faint spice. The taste offers a rich barrel presence along with a mild heat and cinnamon spice. The chocolate and vanilla notes complemented them nicely. The finish is almost citrusy due to the bourbon which I enjoyed. A sturdy body but not too sweet. Outstanding.
