I really enjoy this style of beer and this is one of the better ones I have ever had!. Just lucked out by being at the brewery a couple of weeks ago to get this. Not overly sour at all. Just right and a wonderful blend. Nice job Westbrook. Just visiting and loaded up with other beers. Wish I had purchased two of these. Next time!

man this is everything i stand for, and everything i missed about westbrook, super heady blend here, 65% helles lager, 35% foudre aged sour ale, conditioned on sea beans and fresh limes, so wild. not sure i have had sea beans in a beer before, just a super cool idea and so well executed. i feel like its also uncommon to have lager in the blend, and i like that aspect, especially having so much of it, i definitely get german pils malt and lager yeast notes in the aroma and flavor, which keeps this sort of grounded and organic, and it keeps the acidity from the other beer in the blend from taking over, its basic nature balances this super well, and i think they have the proportions dialed. i can still smell and taste some oaken funk beneath this tall white and lasting farmhouse belgian head, such a sexy pour on this, all kinds of bubbles. its just wild enough though, and its so drinkable, the lime adds some tartness too, but super clean to me with the lager, it keeps going back and forth while also staying curiously cohesive. not sure totally what the sea beans bring, at first i want to sort of ascribe a brine quality to them, then a crisp green veggie thing, finally i land around like high end green olives, its subtle but its cool, and again it loved the lime, a cocktail vibe taken together. again its cool how much lager character comes through here, but how the fermentation remains of chief interest. i cannot thank my homie enough for sending this one out, among the top highlights of a very beery weekend for me! wow!
