Pitch black opaque pour with a brown ring. So it doesn’t smell like much: roasted malt and bourbon with lingering dark chocolate. Taste though opens up with molasses, toasted caramel, anise, coffee bean, rugged dry wood, and a whisper of almond to go with the bourbon and roasted malt. Feel is very warm and decently roasted, barrel character drives well, mostly smooth but more so dries out. Much better than winter blend 23

This thing is massive. Super rich and very well made. Quite sweet but not cloying. Insane clinging legs for days, no head and minimal carbonation. Sticky. Getting those tawny port, boozy raisin, Ximinez sherry oxidized characteristics in a big way. Terrific stuff, maybe I’m not half the man I used to be, but soloing this 500ml is a job.

On tap at The Alley Downtown Taproom in Aiken, SC. Revisted a few weeks later, served from a bottle in Clemson, SC.
Appearance. Motor oil with a minimal tan head.
Mouthfeel. Super smooth and full with a slick finish.
This is a exceptional Imperial Stout, perhaps more Russian IS than American IS in style.
It's a nicely sweet (i.e., not too sweet), rich stout well worth seeking out.
