Once upon a time there was Nuttin Butter than a Nice Pair of Cam Pants. We hung onto some of the pants from our original collaboration with Edmund’s Oast Brewing Company and barrel aged them in Woodford, vanilla, and maple barrels for 5 years to create Nuttin Butter than Another Pair of Cam Pants. A Nutter Butter inspired pastry barleywine with huge gobs of sticky peanut butter, lactose, vanilla, and a touch of baking spices make this beer a delicious and nutty treat.

Hops: Chinook, East Kent Goldings Hops
Yeast: American Ale Yeast
Malt: Crystal 40, Oats, Pale, Victory Malt
Adjuncts: Cinnamon, Dextrose, Lactose, Nutmeg, Peanut Butter Powder, Vanilla
Aging Method: Maple, Vanilla extract barrels, Woodford barrels

Poured from a 16oz can into a 3 Taverns stemmed half pint glass.

The beer pours a murky/hazy mahogany/brownish color with a small foamy, tan head that receded quickly leaving behind a small amount of spotty lacing.

The aroma is bourbon barrel and peanut butter, with notes of chocolate, caramel, vanilla, and maybe a hint of cinnamon.

The flavor is similar to the aroma with a big barrel character, and loads of peanut butter. Chocolate, caramel, and vanilla round out the beer. I don't get any of the cinnamon that I got in the aroma, and I don't get any of the nutmeg that is described by the brewery in the notes. Medium/full bodied, with a moderate amount of carbonation. Between the oats and the lactose there is a velvety mouthfeel, and the beer finishes slightly slick on the tongue.

Overall, this is a very nice adjunct barleywine! I will be on the lookout for more of this next time I'm at the bottle shop!
