Draft at Tørst in Brooklyn.
Pitch black and opaque with a two finger beige head that has great retention, only slowly fading into a thick, lasting ring. Large streaks of soapy lacing left behind.
Robust, deeply roasted malt aroma with hints of gourmet coffee bean, oatmeal, dark chocolate, lactose and silky chocolate malt. Smells really complex for an iced beer. They're usually really boozy but there is only subtle boozy sweetness here and the complex malt notes really stand out. Mocha stout!
On the fuller end of medium body with a deeply roasted dark malt flavor that's countered by silky dessert-like chocolate sweetness and faint boozy heat. Not overly sweet or hot like most iced beers with plenty of mocha espresso flavor along with burnt sugar, toast, caramel, chocolate and oatmeal. Slightly dry/acrid and not as sweet as the aroma suggests but decently balanced and easy to drink considering the abv. Not hot, boozy or harsh at all.
