Had on-tap at the brewery in Skagway, poured into a pint glass.

L: Pours a mostly clear light golden color. Two fingers of head... nice lacing.

S: Mildly sweet... evergreen and malts.

T/F: Mild malts with summer fruits and a bit floral. Spruce is there towards the finish... mild, with a little hop bitterness giving it a semi-dry finish. Creamier than expected in mouthfeel and relatively light. Generous carbonation.

O: Not bad... and definitely something a bit 'different'. I'd have it again but not a favorite.

This was poured into a pint glass. The appearance was a hazy burnt golden orange color with a bar pour’s kind of slim head that didn’t leave any lacing. The smell definitely had the piney sprucy notes - subtle, smooth, delicate and bringing in a light citrus aspect that was good. The taste replicated the smell. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. The carbonation seemed good for the style and for me. Overall, this was a well done herbed/spice ale that does the trick to hit the spot!

Light golden color, small amount of foam at pour.
Apple-like fruit flavor with a touch of herb-like qualities.
A gentle and mellow finish, not at all unpleasant, not at all bitter.
One of my favorite beers in AK.
Well worth the trip, and served by a fun loving staff.

On tap at the brewery. Pours brilliant golden with white head. Aroma is very fruity: cranberries, apples and cherries. Body medium and crisp. Taste fruity, floral, woody and some caramel malt. Finish is long and fruity. Overall this is interesting brew.

On tap at Skagway Brewing Company

A: Very pale gold color with not much of a head.

S: Pretty sweet smell. Clover honey and strawberries.

T: Light pine hops with a lot of sweetness in the back that I can only describe as white gummy bear. There's a faint hit of spruce and pale malts on the finish.

On tap in brewpub. Presented as a light golden, clear, tight white head with good lacing. Smell was piney, obviously spruce-like and sweet honey-like. Taste was some sweet malt, honey, and a little bit of pine. Body was medium. Carbonation was adequate and pleasing. Finish was malty and woody in character. Aftertaste was sweet. Enjoyable brew which was very drinkable.

On draught at the brewpub. Pours a clear light orange-yellow color with a thin white head that dissipates steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Pine and spruce in the nose, along with some fresh fruit and spice. Medium-bodied with a nice woody character, and flavors of piney hops, malt and sweet fruit. The finish is fruity with the fresh spruce flavor lingering in the aftertaste. Very enjoyable all around, and it is interesting that 2 Alaskan brewers feature spruce (an old anti-scurvy remedy) as an ingredient in one of their beers.

A: Pours a nice bold orange hue with a solid white head that that exhibits good retention. Spotty lace was noted.

S: Nice IPA aromas with big notes of pine. There was an ample amount of caramel malt to balance things out a bit.

T: This one is a nice mildly bitter IPA. The addition of the spruce tips really come thru offering up a nice sappy piney quality. The malt is there to balance things out. The best offering by Skagway (from the beers I tried).

M: Medium in body, very smooth.

D: Easy drinking and enjoyable.
