Mahogany brown and very clear, with a light milky-beige head. Smells suitably Old World-y, with more than a hint of sourdough rye bread and a whiff of citrus and spice that calls to mind watered-down cola. Apple and wet leaves in there as well. Autumnal.
Weirdly sour tasting, with a fairly unpleasant bitterness like that you get from certain classified drugs. That acrid, astringent flavor is sadly overpowering - there's some nice caramel flavor in there, and maybe (?) a Christmas cake-y fruitiness, but they're barely discernible.
Unfortunately I feel this might be one for cooking only – and even then, only in measured amounts.
