Presentation: Sampled at the Super Des Fagnes Brewpub in Mariembourg on April 16th during the recent Easter Trip to Belgium. Served from the tap into a Super Des Fagnes glass goblet. Listed as a Special Malte à Whisky, couldnt find a strength for this one.
Appearance: Muddy amber with a dirty white head. Zero head when relaxed. Looks like Cold Tea with some milk added.
Smell: Sickly cheap Scotch traits with some vanilla in there. Average strength but not one I enjoyed at all.
Taste: Slick Marzipan with a vanilla caramel feel. Sickly. Hints of cheap booze and Scotch Whisky with some Baileys Irish Cream in the finish. Thin flavors suffer a metallic trait, rusty nails!??! Just disgusting and rather repulsive.
Mouthfeel: Thin torso bolsters in the finish and has a slick buttery texture to end with.
Drinkability: Had to leave some of this one as well, I needed to drink some water anyways.
Overall: Couldnt make up my mind on this one, was it just bad, didnt it work, or was it really total crap!? A very low key special beer that seems devoid of construction and structure. What happened to SdF? Their beers were never great but they used to be at least average. After trying three of the specials during my 2006 visit, it seems that they produce nothing more than Joke Beers these days! Utter crap.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
