Copenhagen 16/3 2019. 50 cl can from Mikkeller Webshop. The can looks like the display from a shop selling paint for industrial purposes. Pretty elegant but quite strange for a beer can.

Pours murky bordeaux with a big pink head. Settles as voluminous pink Crown of foam sittin proudly on top of the beer. Substantial Lacing.

Aroma is potent and very fruity. Sweet blackcurrant and heavy sweet plum meeting acerbic, tart gooseberries and a light touch of funk.

Light carbonation. Slightly thick, lightly prickly, soft texture. A little sticky.

Flavor is medium sweet followed by a somewhat stronger tart sourness. Aftertaste is sour and acerbic. Lingers for a while. Reasonable alcoholic bite.

Nice Bowl of fruit with a good balance between the sweet and the tart - with a clear overweight to the tart side.

A: Pours up with a slightly reddish, creamy, three finger head and a deep, slightly muddy reddish brown body.
S: The nose is immediately dominated by the plum, at present it is pleasant but one note.
T: Immediate tart plum and (you guessed it) black currant with a slight metallic taste and a mild residual sweetness, again, it is pleasant but one note, no very little tripel is detectable here, some of the spiciness of the yeast does come out as the beer warms, but it has to warm considerably before this happens.
M:smooth with an appropriate amount of carbonation.
O: This tastes good, it does not, however taste anything like a tripel, it may technically be a tripel, but it does not in any way taste like one, if you like those fruits and reasonably strong beer, you'll like this. For my part however, if I want a fruity beer like this, I'm going to reach for something that is not going to push me this close to my limit so I can have more things, in short, this fruit beer is not worth the ABV it has.

Can 'best before' date is 6/19/19

Pours a glossy, deep purple-red hue with a huge, fluffy faint pink head; retention seems endless, but eventually reduces tn a thin layer of foam around the surface and a barrage of thick, soapy lacing clinging consistently to the glass; uniquely attractive and nicely done.

Aromas of soft clove, earthy baking sugar tart strawberry, blackcurrant, and plum; light clove along with subtle fig continue to build in the background.

Taste brings notes of tart plum and sugar-dipped strawberries, fleeting fruity esters, and deep, almost herbal clove; finishes with semi-tart fruity esters (mainly plum, blackcurrant, strawberry, raspberry), finding a smooth balance with the building clove notes.

Mouthfeel dominantly pillowy, almost creamy across the palate, with big-time carbonation adding the majority of the palate's weight; slightly tart, fruity sweetness, but a dryness throughout tempers all other elements consistently.

Unique take on a tripel that integrates the fruit competently and in a variety of ways; the only major knock really being the imbalance of tart fruit notes to Belgian yeast notes, the latter of which only appear beyond a supporting role as the beer warms.

500 ml bottle into chalice, best before 6/19/2019. Pours very hazy ruby reddish/pinkish orange color with a 1 finger dense and rocky light pink head with amazing retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Thick soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big juicy/fairly tart/tangy blackcurrant, plum, fruit skin/seed, lemon, lime, orange, cherry, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, red apple, melon, red grape/wine, peppercorn, clove, light banana, candi sugar, wheat, cracker, white bread, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of blackcurrant, plum, fruity/spicy yeast, candi sugar, pale/wheat malts, and light-moderate earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big juicy/fairly tart/tangy blackcurrant, plum, fruit skin/seed, lemon, lime, orange, cherry, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, red apple, melon, red grape/wine, peppercorn, clove, light banana, candi sugar, wheat, cracker, white bread, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate peppery yeast spiciness, fruit tang/tartness; and herbal, floral, grassy hop bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of juicy/tart/tangy blackcurrant, plum, fruit skin/seed, lemon, lime, orange, cherry, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, red apple, melon, red grape/wine, peppercorn, clove, light banana, candi sugar, wheat, cracker, white bread, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of blackcurrant, plum, fruity/spicy yeast, candi sugar, pale/wheat malts, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with an awesome malt/bitter/spiciness and tart/tangy fruit balance; with no puckering/astringent flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitter/spiciness, tart/tangy fruit, and carbonation. Medium-high carbonation and medium body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy, acidic/tangy, and fairly sticky/tannic balanced mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 9%. Overall this is an awesome fruited tripel! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of blackcurrant, plum, fruity/spicy yeast, candi sugar, pale/wheat malts, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to drink for the big ABV, with the modestly spicy/acidic/tangy/tannic/bitter/drying finish. Not overwhelming on any aspect. Outstanding balanced juicy/jammy fruit, Belgian yeast complexity, candi sugar, and pale/wheat malts; with solid earthy hop presence. Very well attenuated for the ABV, with minimal residual sweetness from lingering dryness. A really enjoyable offering, and spot on style example as expected of the brewery.
