On tap at the Old Toad in Rochester, NY.
Pours dark brown, like coca-cola with some ink mixed in. No head and very little lacing.
Smells boozy, with strong red wine and oak aromas.
The taste is slightly disappointing. Sour, strong red wine flavors come through here, overpowering everything else. I couldn't really tell at all that Biscotti Break made any appearance. Strong oak woodiness, astringent tannins, and slight vanilla.
Full mouthfeel, completely flat. Very boozy, and not very drinkable. Hard to finish the whole thing.
One of my least favorite Evil Twin brews. I'm not a red wine fan, so that probably contributed to my dislike of this one.

The beer comes in a dark brown, almost black color.
The aroma has tons of wine barrel. Sweet dark fruits and cherries. Lots of oak and tannins. This is surrounded by barleywine sweetness and toffee.
The flavor hits forward with wine barrels. Again, a melding of dark fruity red wine and oak. Then a hint of roasted malt from the Biscotti Break. Either from percentages or the barleywine overtaking, the barleywine is the big flavor int his beer. Some caramel sweetness. Tons of alcohol throughout this beer, but not too aggressively so that takes too much away from the beer.
A medium mouthfeel for a barrel aged beer.
An interesting brew. Would be more interesting if the stout flavors shined more.
