This beer looked and smelled nothing like any berliner I've ever had. It was much darker in color than expected and the nose was all barrel character. Caramel, vanilla, and oak with a slight lemon tang on the end. The taste was very different from the aroma, much more tart the the nose would lead you to believe but still not as much as expected given the style. Almost came off like a sweet lemon meringue pie. Lots of vanilla, toffee, some white wine grapiness, lemon tartness, and oak. This is one I would have prefered a slightly higher carbonation level. Nothing like I expected it to be but incredibly interesting and quite good none the less.

The beer offers a Berliner weiss tart lemon quality up front, but is very dominated by grainy flavors. The barrel attaches at the back, but it is still hard to get past the cereal graininess on the palate.
