On draught at iTap CWE.
Thick, opaque black with minimal head. Cocoa, toasty malt and bourbon aromas, more of the same, with vanilla and caramel carried into the taste, minimal carbonation.
Lingering stickiness.
Nice take on the style, definitely not a session ale.

Pours thick and black without a trace of head. The smell is mostly bourbon soaked chocolate and booze. The taste reveals much more complexity, especially as it warms. Chocolate caramel and vanilla all meld together with raisins, coffee, and oak, with bourbon present throughout and a moderate alcohol burn coming on the finish. Incredibly tasty, my only real complaint is a complete lack of carbonation. It is thick, viscous, and chewy but almost completely uncarbonated.

330 ml bottle into snifter, bottled in late 2014. Pours dense pitch black color with no head and a thin ring of bubbles. Minimal lacing. Aromas of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, dark bread, fudge, raisin, prune, vanilla, toffee, oak, bourbon, and roast/oak earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt and bourbon barrel notes; with good strength. Taste of huge dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, dark bread, fudge, raisin, prune, leather, soy sauce, vanilla, toffee, bourbon, oak, smoke/char, and roast/oaky earthiness. Good amount of roast/charred bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, dark bread, fudge, raisin, prune, leather, soy sauce, vanilla, toffee, bourbon, oak, smoke/char, and roasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roasted malt and bourbon barrel flavors; with a nice roasted bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Minimal carbonation and very full bodied; with a very creamy, moderately slick, and lightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is fairly well hidden with a light-moderate warming lingering after the finish; but it’s not boozy. Overall this is a fantastic barrel aged imperial stout. All around outstanding complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roasted malt and bourbon barrel flavors; and quite smooth to sip on for the big ABV and lacking carbonation. A highly enjoyable offering.
