Poured cold from a 16-ounce can into a Zwanze 2018 goblet, just because. Pours a hazy pale golden color, with a thick white head that settled without a trace after a moment or two. This has a gose-like quality about it, with a touch of salinity complementing the sour rhubarb and slightly sweet vanilla. Balanced and drinkable. The sourness is not overbearing, and there is just a hint of vanilla on the mostly dry finish. I did not have high expectations going in, but this turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Well done!

My first full sour that I drank completely. It’s an acquired taste that I haven’t acquired yet. But I’d drink/sip another when it’s hot out.

Picked up a 4 pack of this during the waning days of an Indian summer back in October. Saved the other 3 cans for warmer weather. Pours hazy yellow, 1/2" white head on the top. Rhubarb continues its dominance as one of the better fruit/vegetables used in beer. Beyond the rhubarb wheat tang, the mild vanilla presence is notceable, although it does its heavy lifting later in the beer.
Taste offered up a good combo of lemon and rhubarb sour, but a velvety glove of vanilla alongside it. For once, Evil Twin didn't do a bunch of dumb shit and amp up the abv to some ridiculous level. I think this is easily my favorite Evil Twin beer. The meld of vanilla and rhubarb is such a good pair for a berliner. This is one of those lighter bodied beers that packs a lot of flavor into it.
This beer does everything right, the wheat content, the levity, the tartness, the sourness. Easily the best Evil Twin beer I've had.

Aroma is citrus, wheat grain and rhubarb. The flavor is rhubarb, lemon/fruit, wheat/malts, grapefruit and a big tart/dryish/slightly sugary sweet finish.

From a tall, sixteen ounce can, this brew is a hazy yellow-gold color with a thick head. Wonderful aroma...I get Rhubarb...more than expected. It is a vegetable-like, familiar aroma. The taste is dry, slightly sour, and very engaging. Fuller in body than expected and very satisfying. Wonderful.

In a sea of confusion over what separates one sour ale's style from another, Evil Twin Brewing gets it. Premiere sourness exacerbated by ultimate dryness and a modest alcohol content all remind us why Napoleon's troops dubbed the berlinerweiss as the champagne of the north. ...until they throw rhubarb, lactose and vanilla at it.
Hazy gold and constructing a soft and fluffy swath of sea foam, Rhubarb Compote Sour leads with a jaw tightening, saliva evoking tartness of red berry, wine, orchard fruit and a zip of acidity comes soon after the pour. Scant sweetness comes with a wafer thin maltiness, taffy and a most shallow hint of honey imaginable.
But then the brazen sourness floods the middle palate with a strong sourness of dry French cider, sour white grape, gooseberry, lime, lemon and crabapple. And then comes the rhubarb with its overlay of cranberry, strawberry, redcurrant-like taste with a bright and fruity profile. Gentle hints of vanilla and cream soften the sour blow as the late palate trends winey, fruity and with an earthen pep of burlap and balsa.
Light bodied and quenching the thirst with ease, the dry and drinkable ale never lets its fruit and soft spice additions interfere with its drinkability or refreshment. A short aftertaste of sour fruit and dry woods extend mere seconds for a clean after palate. As a premiere summer beer, this beer is sure to go down as easy as.... well, beer!

Look: It pours hazy yellow with a dense white head. Head retention is good.
Smell: Has very sour aromas with rhubarb and vanilla. There are some bread dough notes in the background.
Taste: The rhubarb is the first thing that come in the flavor which has a sharp sour note with a bit of sweetness. Vanilla and bread dough come through in the secondary notes. There is also a slight bit of lemon with a semi dry finish.
Feel: It has a high bit of carbonation with a light body.
Overall, The rhubarb leads the way with a sharp sourness and the other flavors being secondary notes that become more prominent as the taste sensation continues throughout.
