another long winded name on a hazy evil twin ipa, they certainly seem to have a theme going here, and overall i think i liked this one better than a lot of the others, even if it has been chilling in the fridge awhile, still tastes good and fresh to me, and it does have some bitterness to balance the juiciness, something i have missed in some of their others, and immediately am thankful for in this one, even though it could be a product of some hop decay in the can over time, it works. im not totally sure i recognize the hops in here, at least i cant call them out right away, but there is a nice mix of generic citrus freshness and oils, higher alpha piney bitterness, and a light melony pineapple tropical thing that seems to give it a little sweetness in the middle, it kind of hits all the bases, and if this is just a single hop or two, its doubly impressive. smooth in feel, bright in carbonation, wheaty but not super starchy and dense to me, maybe without oats or a lesser amount of them than has become fashionable of late, i like its drinkable texture. hop flavor lingers on the palate of bitter orange and light spruce, pleasing burps follow big sips, and this one is gone before i know it...

Look: Hazy golden orange with a thick white head. No activity visible.

Smell: Pineapple, mango, marmalade, light caramel, and biscuit malt. Juicy and sweet malt. Chewy on the nose.

Taste: Green mango, dried pineapple rings, a strange chalky aspirin note, earthy dirty hops, rose hips, and some dried tangerine. The malt is sweet and orange candies.

Feel: Big bodied and chewy. Medium bitterness. Sharp alcohol. Prickly carbonation.

Overall: too big for the ABV. There is a nice mix of sweet malt and fruity hops but the ratio is all over the place. Flawed but average overall.

New hops take on old school technique in a bitter yet smooth IPA that that questions where the style honestly lies. With no games, gimmicks or tricks up their sleeves, Evil Twin Brewing makes a sensible, earthty and spicy IPA the way your dad probably liked it.

Pungent citrus and troipcal fruit rests on the nose along with a peppery, grassy and herbal perfume. Golden amber in color and cast in a moderate haze, the firmly headed IPA leads with a lengthy and metaphysical statement: I Must Find a Truth that is True for Me. As those words just roll off the tongue, a gentle caramel, honey and graham cracker sweetness rolls back on for a marginally malty sweet introduction.

The middle palate reveals layers of dank, peppery and herbal flavors to complement the fruit upstart. Citrusy with orange, pink grapefruit and lime, but then tropical with pineapple, mango and passionfruit; the taste veers slightly from the bright character of the fruit and toward a macerated, aged and pungent over ripeness. Trending deeply resinous, bitter and peppery, a taste of lemonpepper, verbena, spruce, weathered grassiness and an overall dank chive taste accompanies a bitter late palate into a stewed fruit and herb roundness.

Medium bodied, the IPA starts creamy but ends dry, refreshing and crisp but a little dirty, kind of like a dirty martini of the IPA world. The rinds of tropical fruit and a soilish hop bitterness chases the taste into a long, gritty and gin filled finish.

Moderate hazy yellow color with a 3 finger head of large, loosely packed bubbles. Head stays for quite some time. Moderate sticky lacing clings to the glass.

Smell is honey sweetness, herbal, almost minty hops and faint citrus. Good but faint.

Taste starts with honey sweetness but is quickly cut into by the slightly bitter mostly herbal hops. Finishes slightly dry with a nice lingering citrus finish. Zero booze detected.

Mouthfeel is excellent. Very softand dangerously drinkable.

I liked this one a lot. Nowhere near perfect but it has a unique hop/ malt profile that provided a nice change from all of the juice bombs. The sweetness is there but never gets to be too much and does not ever approach the syrupy level. If you like herbal hops you may enjoy this.

A: Pours a murky bright medium golden apricot in color with moderate amounts of active visible rising along the edges of the glass and and moderate burnt orange + golden yellow + peach colored highlights. The beer has a two finger tall dense sudsy foamy off-white head that slowly reduces to a couple of small patches of medium thick film surrounded by a large patch of thin film covering the remainder of the surface of the beer and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass, Moderate to significant amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Slightly stronger than moderate aromas of citrus/orange zest, citrus/grapefruit, tropical/mango, and herbal hops over the top of moderate aromas of biscuit + pale + oat + caramel malts with a light to moderate amount of caramel sweetness.

T: Upfront there is a moderate flavor of biscuit + pale + oat + caramel malts with a light to moderate amount of caramel sweetness. That is followed by slightly stronger than moderate flavors of citrus/orange zest, citrus/grapefruit, tropical/mango, and herbal hops which impart a light to moderate amount of bitterness which fades away leaving lingering slightly sweet citrus/orange zest flavors.

M: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Soft fluffy mid-body and a light amount of dryness in the finish.

O: Drinks pretty easily with well hidden alcohol but there is something about this beer that just doesn't quite work - I feel like the flavors just don't quite come together and seem to be a bit in conflict (it gets better as you drink more of it).
