Super duper strong stout? Well, it's big but it's no Dogfish Head World Wide. Black like motor oil and pretty much flat. I'm guessing this stuff is old...but perhaps it's aged well. There's a decent amount of char to this stout. The nose is complex but the most forthcoming scent is actually burnt wood, but there's some fig and even a bit of tire rubber. The reason I say this I think this is a well-aged can of this beer is that although the flavors are intense they don't seem as intense as some of the other BAs have stated. Sure, this is big, bitter stuff but it's not obnoxiously bitter. I actually like the finish quite a bit. The finish starts out a little slick and then comes across a bit dry and wine-like (think: port) but then sort of coats the tongue with some char and thick rumcake sweetness. I imagine this is what a Goose Island Bourbon County Stout might taste like without the bourbon barrell aging (but probably not, probably just would want it to taste like.)

16oz can poured into a snifter

A- pours jet black in color with a two-finger creamy dark brown head that has good retention and leaves some lacing behind

S- lots of booze on the nose with charred malt, burnt toast, anise, maybe smoked barley

T- charred malt, chocolate, anise, dark fruit, undertones of caramel, finishes slightly salty with more char on the linger

M- medium body with moderate-low carbonation leads to a creamy mouthfeel that continues into a slightly warming finish

O- not their greatest stout but still solid

From the tall boy can in a snifter from Savor Growl in Columbus.
This decent imperial pours a rich obsidian with a modest head of
light tan foam that subsides to a thick ring, thin clumping pool, and
displays some subtle light lacing. Nose of dark fudge, subtle herbal
notes, moderate spicy hops, slight booze, char, and marshmallow
fluff with coffee. Flavors lightly exceed the nose with char laden dark
fudge, rich notes of dark fruit of blueberry and raspberry, and herbal
spicy hops that ring loud but are punished into submission from the
sweet malt that is loaded with coffee and chocolate with warming
booze and touches of vanilla. Nice mouth feel; smooth, coating, low
carbonation, full body, and a coating sweet finish.

Nice malt bomb with some slightly below standard flavors from one
of my favorite breweries. Solid, but not the standard blow your
lips off Evil Twin intoxication.

Cheers

Very dark. Too strong and bitter, even for this stout lover. ABV too high for my taste.

16oz can poured into a snifter.

Jet black, small head with no lacing.

Dark fruit, cocoa, molasses, slight anise.

Very sweet molasses, cocoa and fruit. This needs way more roastiness to help cut the sugar sweetness.

Thin, light carbonation doesn't fit with this style and detracts from the overall experience.

Surprised by this one. I usually love Evil Twin stouts but this is too simplistic and just plain too freaking sweet. Pass.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing opaque black in the glass with a quarter finger dark khaki head that dissipates slowly to patches with slight lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt with light biscuit, molasses, cocoa and a little coffee, a bit boozy. Flavor is dark toasted malt, milk chocolate, mild dark dried fruit and drip coffee. Finishes with dark malt and somewhat odd, slightly sweet, fruit esters. Medium bodied with moderate creaminess and good mouth feel. The main flavor is classic imperial stout that leans towards a Russian style, then veers away with more fruit notes in the finish. The finish is flavorful, but unexpected. ABV well covered. Interesting and rich.

16 ounce can into snifter, canned on 7/1/2018. Pours dense pitch black color with small dense tan head with good retention, that reduces to a thin spotty lace cap that lingers. Lightly spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, molasses, raisin, fig, date, licorice, toasted oats, nuttiness, and dark/brown bread; with light notes of smoke, charcoal, leather, tobacco, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/black/roast/bready malts and light fruity yeast/earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of huge milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, molasses, raisin, fig, date, licorice, toasted oats, nuttiness, and dark/brown bread; with light notes of smoke, charcoal, leather, tobacco, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Mild herbal/spicy hop and roast/char bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, molasses, raisin, fig, date, licorice, toasted oats, nuttiness, dark/brown bread, smoke, char, leather, tobacco, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/black/roast/bready malts and light fruity yeast/earthy hop flavors; with nice roast/hop bitter/sweet balance; with no cloying, acrid, astringent flavors after the finish. Slightly increasing dryness from hop/char bitterness. Light-medium carbonation and very full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/velvety, and slightly slick/sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is fantastic. Minimal warming 11%, with no booze lingering after the finish. Overall this is a fantastic American imperial stout! All around outstanding complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/black/roast/bready malts and light fruity yeast/earthy hop flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to sip on for the huge ABV, with the very mildly bitter/drying finish. Extremely thick/rich imperial malt complexity; with complementing fruity yeast, and mild earthy hops against sweetness. A highly enjoyable offering, and amazing style example as expected. They rarely disappoint on the big stouts.

Really nice 11% imperial stout. The description is pretty much spot on: chocolate, coffee, and black beans. It might be the power of suggestion, or it might be the black bean soup I ate last night, but yes, there is a black bean hint to this beer. In the best possible way.

16oz can poured into a tulip. Pours black with a very small dark khaki head that fades leaving solid retention and sticky lacing. The aromas are malt forward. Subtle hints of cocoa. The flavors are pretty bold and rich. Lots of roasted characteristics. Lots of dark chocolate along with some hints of coffee. Nice bitterness, but it also finishes sweet. Strong malt backbone. It drinks big, but the is ultimately well hidden. Mouthfeel is nice. It's full-bodied with moderate carbonation. It's slightly creamy and velvety. I guess it's dangerously drinkable, but it makes for a nice sipper.

This is a pretty solid stout. It's very bold, rich and kind of sweet. It's more or less what you would expect from an Evil Twin stout.

The Danish brewers have always had the propensity to hit the roast a little heavy when it comes to stout. As the Evil Twin team spreads their wings and their brewing prowess to many other places, styles and mindsets, they find themselves back in the roasty mindset in an imperial stout that celebrates all things burnt and sweet.

Black as night, Super Duper pours with a marshmallowy viscosity and with a light oily coat on the glass. As a dense mocha froth builds, a highly robust scent of campfire, chocolate, coffee, whisky and a hearty sweet scent overcomes the senses with full saturation. Equally as deep and mouth coating is the initial taste that slathers the tongue with the lavishness of blackstrap molasses, bittersweet chocolate, sorghum and honey.

Those rich flavors and textures really latch onto the tastebuds for an extremely slow and patient fade. Meanwhile, the complementary malt flavors of burnt toast, smoldering embers and charred oak bring those burnt, nearly smoky flavors to the forefront. Bittersweet and trending progressively bitter with espresso, turkish coffee and baker's chocolate, the late palate is lush but balanced.

Unmistakably full, rounded and rich, the beer embarks on chewy impressions as the roasted sugars cling to the surfaces of the mouth unapologetically. A long aftertaste of sweetness, whisky spice and burnt flavor continues to duel out prominence for balance until the next sip beckons and the fight starts all over again.
