The head is thick and lasting while the body retains the muddy brown look. The aroma exudes a chocolate mint kind of scent. The taste remains the same; not much malt or hop character other than dull suggestions of either; there is still a slight chili pepper presence. No change in the mouthfeel.
Since the look is greatly approved, I bumped the overall score up by .25 points.
----------------------
Deep, murky brown body; decent dense and creamy head; spidery fingers of foam coat the glass. Spicy, pine-like aroma. Dull cocoa flavor with a mint-like character; spicy hop character; some chili heat arises at the finish. Heavy body; warm with a spicy burn to the palate.
I can't find any information about this beer or its ingredients. It has some Cascadian dark ale spiciness to things and what seems to be a late-developing chili heat in the taste and mouthfeel. Regardless, the looks are so-so and the taste rather muddled and confused. Not bad, for a two-pack purchase, but whether I'd go for it again remains to be seen.

12 oz. Can
Poured into a Tree House glass a pretty nice black color, with some pretty nice carbonation, with a pretty nice thick/creamy one-finger tan head, which also leaves a pretty nice medium size oil slick, and some nice sticky lacing. The nose is hoppy, malty, with some chocolate/toffee, licorice, roasty. The taste is hoppy, malty, with some nice chocolate/toffee, licorice, roasty. Medium body, ABV is hidden pretty nicely, with a dry/bitter finish. Overall, a tasty brew.

Opted for a tulip since this seemed like an imperial version of this style.
The appearance leaned towards the lighter side black, somewhat purple/dark brown closer to the edges. One finger's worth of white foamy head slid off nicely. Light lace slides with the sips.
The aroma took on a fair blend of pine resin, grassy hops, sweet ash, dark chocolate, dark toast and a light dose of bitter citrus rind.
The flavor leaned towards the bitter side initially then developing some keener qualities of roast, earthy and ash. Dry ashy and sweet to bitter aftertaste.
The mouthfeel was between medium and full bodied with a fair sipping quality about it. Good carbonation and appropriate ABV. Dry sort of finish with some ashy roasty sweet toastiness.
Overall, for the most part I'd say this was a pretty nice imperial black ale I could come back to.

355 ml can served cold into a tulip. Thanks to Margaret and Dimple for the gift. Not super fresh, can is a few months old.
Appearance - Lovely near black color, a finger plus of tan head, some streaky lacing around the edges of the glass. Nice looking brew.
Smell - A touch subdued, but some citrus mixed with roasty malts and slight smokey and ashy aroma. Finish with a pine element.
Taste - Mostly like the nose, but more malty than the citrus would indicate on the nose. Fairly bitter, but not excessively so. Lots of roasty and ashen flavors to close.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied, appropraite carbonation and relatively dry finish.
Overall - Solid above average Black IPA, worth a try but not extravagant cost or effort to try. Might crack a regular rotation if routinely available in these parts and I was on a Black Ale kick.

12 oz can.
Brewed for Evil Twin Brewing and Blank Brewing
at Dorchester Brewing Co., Boston, MA.
Moderate pour yields a one inch light tan head over a medium dark brown body with very nice sticky lacing. Nose of pine resin and chocolate. Taste of chocolate and extreme pine resin. Finish of bitter pine resin and slight grapefruit. Nice feel and overall, not for the faint of heart or anyone who dislikes pine resin.

Pours with a murky deep brown body that, to me, looks more like a dark version of Evil Twin's NEIPAs. A semi-aggressive pour gives me 3/4 fingers of khaki-colored head. The bubbles stick around for a while and leave a small amount of lacing on the glass. There a few small floaties dispensed throughout the glass. The aroma is very hoppy, piney, and resinous. Taste is very hoppy as well but with a certain amount of roasty malt flavor. This is neither the best nor the worst black IPA I've had. Sort of, forgettable. The taste improves slightly as the beer warms. A little bit of alcohol is noticeable on the tongue. In terms of feel, this is closer to NEIPAS than traditional Cascadian ales. The body is relatively creamy and smooth, and the carbonation is medium. This beer is OK, but only so. It does well in terms of many of the style's markers but feels like it could be improved.

Day #8 of the 2018 Advent calendar.
Wow-- if you like hops then this is the beer for you.
Great color; opaque blackness, and a thin roasty head that stuck around for a good long time.
Aroma is all hops, flavor is all hops, aftertaste is all hops.
Now I like hops, and plenty of them, but I could still taste this on my tongue 1/2 hour after I finished it.
Sadly, there may be such a thing as too many hops.
